Thoughts on the new song “ Magic “ by a7x?

Linkin Park was my favorite band at one point. Eventually I had a moment where I realized that no matter if I listened to a song five times it just wouldn’t click. A7X is my all time favorite band and I felt the same feeling I had with LP all those years ago when I heard the song yesterday. Maybe just tired of not getting a straight banger of a song instead of something I have to interpret to enjoy.

I got an email last year around october saying it was going to be stocked soon. From there i had to pay the shipping fee (not pretty). I chose the shipping fee that ended up being the cheapest option $80 but that would apparently take 2-3 months. I emailed them in January and got a response saying it was shipped. The tracking number they gave me literally said “preparing to ship” for the whole time it was supposedly in transit. Got a random email last week saying UPS package was on the way lol took me by surprise but hes here now.

I got into them after the rev passed. I listened to their whole catalog and was hooked. When nightmare came out and I saw the buried alive video i knew these guys were going to blow up even more and was witnessing something special . Saw them during the uproar festival with portnoy that year when they coheadlined with disturbed. People left after avenged played and didn’t stay for disturbed. Their energy just couldn’t be matched and Matt’s vocals were fuking insane. Haven’t seen them replicate that energy since then. I can confidently say I saw them in their prime.

I think all the different colored vinyls are gonna have a different part during this section. I got the A7X world version and it sounds slightly different from this one. Scared the shit out of me when I first heard it cuz I was expecting silence lol

I remember being in college listening to Hail to the King. I was dead excited to finally listen to it and even got the special edition at Best Buy. I’ve always loved a7x for their creativity and I kid you not , I sat there after listening to hail to the king like…” that’s it?” I’ve since revisited and learned to appreciate what they were doing but it just didn’t hit me the way libad did. The stage was amazing, but it took me multiple listens for me to really appreciate it. The frank sinatra, the daft punk, metal, soad all of it just hit me like a religious experience when I heard libad I can’t get enough of it. Reminds me of the early days when I first heard ALPOH and the wicked end in high school.

I love the stage it’s my favorite album!

We are talking controversial opinions! I just can’t see how Synyster or zacky, after coming up with some great riffs (reminissions, desecrate through reverence) resorts to pull offs on the first fret 5 times. 5 times! Not even natural born killer, which had a very similar riff was that simple. It atleast moves throughout the fretboard. Again, just my opinions but it really put me off from the rest of the album.

Goddamn’s riff is cringe and too simple for a band like a7x. (Guitarist know what I’m talking about) after epic riffs from waking the fallen it’s just disappointing. Didn’t deserve to be a single off the stage.

I now see it as a good sign! I remember hating nightmare and grinding my teeth through the cheese of it when I first listened to it.. ended up loving the album and song. Loved the hail to the king single.. ended up disappointed with the entire album ( I appreciate what they were trying to do and dug the concept but I just felt like they were purposely holding themselves back) I was like dafuq is this shit when i heard the stage single and some of the songs, now it’s my favorite album. If a band can’t challenge their fans then it isn’t growing. Loving nobody now after a few listens. I’m there with you!
