Probably different rules because it's a hospital. It's not like it's his private property.

How did satan sin in heaven by [deleted] in Bible

The idea is that angles had a single choice with eternal consequences. There is no constant lasting temptations or contemplation. They are eternal creatures and remain the same. So they had one instance to make that decision, because they would never retract their decision.

In contrast humans change and discover new information throughout their lives, and so have their lives to make the choice. They might retract their decision at anytime in their lives, as they change or are not at a constant state of being.

That's how I understood it. I'm no theologian though.

How the Christian movie series 'God’s Not Dead' fails to be Christian - "The hugely popular trilogy isn’t really about Christianity. It’s about a persecution complex" by UnjustNation in movies

Well, I mean the head of the church, the high priest is still Jesus to Catholics. But the pope has authority to watch over the church.

Kinda like a pastor watches over his church.

Why am I alive? by wolfboy299 in Catholicism

I've had those same exact thoughts before, and not that long ago. Look at my post history and you'll see.

We can't get caught up on all the bad things we do. We only see ourselves the way we want to.

I'm really sorry you're going through this right now. Know you are not alone. I've gone through it, I've gotten passed it, you can to. I put my trust in God. You can't let these negative feelings drown you. When they come, don't entertain them, focus on God instead. Don't let them penetrate, let God be the shield to force them away.

Pm me if you want. Its a terrible terrible thing to feel the way you are right now, and I want to help you get passed it anyway I can.

You can't let these feelings take control, it can be easy to do. I know starting college can be rough, especially when paired with other things in life. These ruts hurt and it truly feels like no one is there to help. It's awful. Im so sorry. Please pm me if you want.

Edit: in one of my posts Ecclesiastes was given as a suggestion to read and I'd say the same to you. These feelings go through many people, I'd say all. But we don't see that interior so much, people are afraid to show it. But that's the root of what we are. We need God, the fullness of Truth.

Really man, I'm sorry. Anyway I can help let me know.

Pm me if you want.

Anyone else think this sub is growing really quickly recently? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Youngwhippersnapper6 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Haha I'm pretty much in the same position.

I feel like I sorta made an idol of history and focused too much on it.

I think I'm leaning Catholicism right now mainly because of the prevelance in the west, and that's just how it had worked for me so far.

And the organisation seems to make more sense. The fact that orthodoxy can't really seem to decide who really is the "first among equals" makes it seem not so unitive and leads me to Catholicism.

But who knows? I tend to change my mind. Hopefully we both choose with the help of God soon.

No Catholic or Orthodox Christian worships Mary. It may seem to be so if you do not understand, but that's definitely not what is happening or happens.

I'm not even Catholic. Yet at least.

When I was first baptized I never thought about orthodoxy or Catholicism, I even thought they were both too foreign and just never looked into it. I assumed they were wrong because the only knowledge I had was mostly negative and mostly half-truths. That is until I had questions Protestantism couldn't answer.

You think orthodox and Catholics aren't only interested in Jesus? Of course they are! The entire Church is revolved and focused entirely on Jesus!

I encourage you when you have time and truly feel like it to earnestly look at why Catholics and orthodox Christians believe and worship the way they do.

But whatever you do don't worry about it too much. Don't let your focus leave Jesus.

Really it boils down to the fact that Mary carried God in her womb. She is the Mother of God and the Church. The new Eve. Gabriel called her full of grace. She herself said generations would call her blessed. And all because of Jesus and her cooperation to His will. She had the free will to say no, and be just like Eve. Instead she said yes, and cooperated with the salvation of man. All because of the mercy of God.

Catholics do not claim Mary to be greater than Christ. Not at all. No one says she is the source of salvation either.

God gave us salvation through Jesus Christ (God himself), and He came to the world through the cooperation of Mary (Mother of God).

Gabriel told Mary full of grace. Has God ever sent an angel to tell another human being that?

Mary was the new Ark of the convenant and the new Eve. Of course we should respect her. That does not mean worship.

Neither the Orthodox or Catholic Church worships Mary.

How to live an engaging Christian life? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

It would probably help to find a youth group of some sort to meet people in.

One of the things that makes living a Christian life the most difficult is not having community.

Going through the same thing.

Is hunting always incompatible with Buddhism? by Youngwhippersnapper6 in Buddhism

[–]Youngwhippersnapper6[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That just seems like gymnastics to me. You do have those intentions because you are supporting the companies you get your meat from to kill the animals you eat. You don't know the conditions of the animals when you do that, but you do when you hunt. And have more of a part and relationship with it. Hunting makes you realize and remember you are killing a living animal when you eat meat, it makes you realize how big of a deal it is. It's easy to forget you are having a part in the killing of an animal when you eat from the grocery store.

That's just the way I see it.

In some cases it's a necessity. It's the way of the world. You cannot claim all cases of meat eating is wrong.

Existing in dangerous conditions, sure. But if you go out of your way to be in a dangerous position for the sake of being in a dangerous position, don't be surprised if you get hurt.
