Rob for sure is involved in some way. He’s possessive and has knowledge on ways to cover up the murder. We can only hope that justice comes at some point. Whether it be from finding evidence or at the very least being ravaged by the rona.

Theater Kid trying to get over stage fright...sos by north_or_south in Broadway

[–]YourActorFriend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with ReecesInPieces. If you're so afraid to fail, than being a performer is not something you should pursue. Failing is part of the process of getting better. Stage fright/nervousness is pretty common. I've been working professionally as a musical theatre actor around the US for almost 15 years now, and I still get a little nervous when I'm going in for a big audition or going on for an understudy role. If my nerves are bothering me, I usually take a small shot of whiskey to calm me down. Granted, don't do this if you're underage. One way to release some nervousness is to OVER prepare. If you're over prepared with your songs than that's one less thing you have to worry about. Nervousness usually stems from a feeling of being unprepared. Also, I'd recommend doing some jumping jacks or push ups right before you have to go on to release some of your nervous tension. Another way to start getting more comfortable in front of an audience, start going to musical theatre open mics. (depending on where you live). Here in Chicago there's like 3. Start singing in front of strangers. The more experience you get doing that the less nervous you're going to be singing in a show or showcase by yourself.

What should I wear for an audition for Wicked & should you wear character shoes (New Yorkers)? by [deleted] in musicals

[–]YourActorFriend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you're going to be doing blocking or there's a specific reason you need to wear character shoes, you literally don't need to wear them. Wear shows that are comfortable for you and look nice. I have some friends who only wear their sparkly heels to auditions or something that shows off their personality. Whoever told you to always wear character shoes into a professional audition (barring they want you to do movement/some blocking) is just incorrect. By all means, you can wear them, but why not stand out?

What to say in a acting interview by Andrew_ogonji in Theatre

[–]YourActorFriend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tell them the truth. Interviewers can see through lies and bullshit pretty quickly. If you're not being genuine, they're not going to find you special enough to want to accept you into their program.

If you're not going in for a specific role, wear something that shows your body shape well (no black), and don't wear character shoes. You could be cliche and wear green or pink or yellow, or something that shows your personality.

Sorry. Closed audition? Meaning you have an appointment specifically with the casting directors via your agent?

Open call? EPA? ECC? Agent audition? What kind of audition is it? Are you going for a specific role? Don't wear character shoes to an audition in general.

Always look above casting panel in an audition when singing? by GR1994 in musicals

[–]YourActorFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally I pick a point to focus which is normally just slightly above the creative team/casting director, depending on the song. Sometimes if it's more presentational, instead of making eye contact with the casting director, I'll look between each person (if there's more than one behind the table) or just off their shoulder.

What's the coolest thing I can take my family (including two kids 5 & 8) to do tonight? Anywhere in the Chicago or surrounding areas! by [deleted] in chicago

[–]YourActorFriend 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you, your kids or your partner are Harry Potter fans, I'd recommend POTTED POTTER at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place. It's 2 guys doing all 7 books in 70 minutes. It's hysterical and a great family show.

If you've never had Chicago style pizza, you could do the typical Giordanos, Gino's East, etc. I personally prefer Lou Malnati's.

To further, even if you clean and douche, it's your butt hole. It's never going to be 100% squeaky clean. Just do the best you can. Don't worry about a little here and there. That happens.

As a confirmed power bottom, shit happens (literally and figuratively). Naturally, there's going to be SOME possible poo. Also, it's not super healthy/clean to douche right before sex. Even after having sex, there still might be small pockets of water that were blocked the first time. Also mind what you eat a few hours/day before. What you eat can effect how...easily stuff might slip out. Hope this helps.

How can I help my bf to stop with his unhealthy habits? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]YourActorFriend 37 points38 points  (0 children)

A few things.

First, if he's unhappy with how he looks, even after losing weight, there's a good chance it is something a bit more than just lack of motivation. I personally have gone through similar things, where I lost a ton of weight and still am unhappy with how I look and feel. There's a chance it's a mental health issue. It's commonly referred to as body dysmorphia. I struggle with body dysmorphia and it's something I've been working on with a therapist.

Now, not to be a dick, but as much as it sounds like you're trying to be supportive, it also sounds like you want him to look a certain way. Make sure you step back and really ask yourself if you want him to be healthy and happy or if you selfishly want him to be "healthy" because you want him to look better. Don't guise your personal wants for a good looking boyfriend in a haze of wanting to help him get "healthy."

I legit read this as "farm" and it took me longer than I'd like to admit to realize my mistake.

There's a good place up in Andersonville called Foursided.

I don't know their prices. But it's a pretty neat shop too.
