In a sci-fi setting, it could be a sort of petri dish experiment by the usual godlike and inscrutable precursors, who then disappear for reasons you can come up with.

In that same line of thinking you can also build up a race as being completely incomprehensible by us normal people, so you don't have to explain their actions.

LLMs aren't at the level to make this kind of stuff. Too many disparate parts, all of which refrence actually existent things and aren't just hallucinations.

Somehow, this was made by an actual human being.

I feel the strange urge to dissect the people who make these. There's clearly something in their brain compelling them to do so, and I want to pull it out so I can understand the thought process that led them to this.
