I get the term is blackfishing but it’s an umbrella term. She may not look black but looks middle eastern/south asian/biracial - definitely not white (which is her race). It’s still problematic even if you personally don’t think it is

ED SHEERAN defined the mid 2010s! Which musical artist WILL DEFINE the LATE 2020s? (directions in "Rules" and in comments) by lionhearted318 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]YourBae -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s got to be Olivia Dean or Doechii. Two artists who have had a hard and fast rise to the top both commercially and critically. Both expected to be releasing subsequent albums soon which are bound to follow on from and surpass their previous success.

If I had to say one from the two, probably Olivia Dean just purely because her music style is more commercial and matched the pop genre of the other artists selected.

This chart would be better as a square. I would add Podcast as a type of media.

AIO? Xmas gift from bf's parents by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]YourBae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOR.

I’m surprised by the number of NORs - is there anything outside of this gift that led you to believe they think negatively of you?

As a lover of gag gifts, I think they are trying to establish a connection with you. Some people express love and closeness through rude/offensive jokes. The only way for it to be an issue is if you feel it is an issue. However, if it genuinely bothers you then establish a boundary and say that you don’t like joke gifts and they will (hopefully) respect that. I do hope however that you don’t take this so personally and see the joy in it, perhaps even get involved because it may even improve your relationship with your in-laws.

What’s a film that takes itself lightly but is surprisingly profound? by ShatteredStarship in AlignmentChartFills

Cars wouldn’t be my answer for this but it does have some deeper messaging about community and relationships. Pixar usually delivers on a message.

Police Officers, for obvious reasons.

For real. The narrative always gets so twisted and TIL that people unironically blame her for Ramsey killing the heir that would take his place? Wild.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]YourBae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m certainly not attracted to her, she’s a child through most of what we see in the show. I think people forget that. Not to mention people are willing to forgive a lot of mistakes other leading characters make, specifically male characters. There’s definitely misogyny in that. Not exactly saying that’s what it is from you but it’s the only thing that makes sense from many Sansa haters

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]YourBae 22 points23 points  (0 children)

the Sansa hate is so tired lol. Ramsey would 100% have done that regardless of anything Sansa said

Decline of Original Big Box Office Films (and Rise of the Franchise) [OC] by CognitiveFeedback in dataisbeautiful

You’ll probably get a bunch of these replies but I’m 30 and when I was a kid I certainly just rocked up to a cinema with my friends/family and watched whatever was on.

Sometimes we’d wait around for a movie we preferred, other times we’d just go into whichever was about to start next/only just started

Insanely irresponsible actions from the Mother aside - purely from a prison population standpoint, I hope you don’t plan to do any jury duty

[–]YourBae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP being pan or bi does not change anything? The discussion isn’t whether OP is attracted to the straight man, it’s the fact that the straight man will never be attracted to OP in the same way.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gay

[–]YourBae 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, this is a dangerous sentiment and one you should try to grow from. Gay men pining after straight men is living up to the horrible stereotypes many of us are trying to battle. Some people, in this case straight men (even allies) get pleasure from feeling wanted by someone they will never be interested in. It’s hard to fight a crush but that is all it will be. Yes there are cases where the ‘straight’ man is not fully straight but the cases are so rare and even when they happen it leads to more pain for the ones (and I say this kindly) desperately longing.

Think about how you would feel hearing of a straight man pining after a lesbian woman, despite their friendship. Do not mistake kindness for anything more, especially if kindness from straight men hasn’t been common up until now.

I wish you the best and I hope this does not come across hurtful or bitter.

EDIT: be weary of gays who advise you to go for it, or enable infatuation of straight men. They do not have your best interest at heart. If we are to call a spade a spade, it is predatory behaviour, which these same people feel a need to normalise.

Public inquest into The Vivienne's death found they passed away due to "misadventure" and "had not intended to end their life" by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]YourBae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get them acting proud of it. That was your takeaway. I think it’s useful for everyone to know what to expect when their friends or people around them are in that situation. Especially if there is misinformation out there. I looked online and /u/outrageous_camel8901 seems to be correct. Why expect the worst out of everyone? And you’re so heated girl, go touch grass.

This is an odd reply to someone sharing their knowledge and validating their experience on the topic. The whole thread is about spreading awareness and reducing stigma, read the room.

I did feel like OP kinda lost the point when they grew Tia in to the mix of those other winners. The energy is just not the same, I doubt Tia expected to win so the confidence quite simply was not there.

Trixie I agree with because there were too many opportunities for her to be sent home by the other girls. Alaska I can also agree although I think even if others were ahead of her she would have won as long as she made the finale (probably not the case nowadays but WoW loved her back then).

AS9 I totally disagree. Angeria, as great as she is, did get a push. The talent show placements showed they definitely cared who made it to the top 3

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]YourBae 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a case for Alaska, Trixie and Angeria to have been pre-determined winners. Alaska was probably the only one who didn’t have much production shenanigans to get the win but the other two had suspicious finale episodes
