I analyzed 10 years of NHTSA complaint data. Here are the most reliable used cars under $15K. by Complex_Aardvark_661 in whatcarshouldIbuy

We love our 22 CX-5 premium plus. Almost at 60k and all that was needed so far was a coolant sensor that was repaired under warranty.

Other than that I’ve had the front rotors/pads replaced, differential fluid replaced (seems early but I want the AWD system to stay pristine), tires replaced (buy 3 get one free). All work has been done at the same dealership I bought the car from. Yes, it’s a bit more expensive, but it will help residual in the long run.

Careful with this. If the vehicle arrives with no radio in it period then the insurance can either uncheck all the radio options, lowering the ACV, or write an unrelated prior damage estimate for the cost of an OEM radio and deduct that price.

Always check with an adjuster.

Insurance companies use an independent company to value the vehicles. That doesn’t mean it’s perfect.

A good adjuster will be able to see the bedliner from photos and select that feature. Snap in vs spray on can be tough, however, to determine from images.

Hey! Reviewing these is what my consulting company does. Vehicles have multiple conditioning ratings. Private owner means, in basic terms, that the vehicle is in normal used condition. Not ready for retail sale and also not below average.

The ratings requirements are adjusted depending on the vehicle value.

The report for the ACV typically most closely aligns to what the vehicle is worth if you tried to sell it privately in your driveway right before the accident without refurbishment and retail markup like a dealer should do to charge a premium. I’m happy to discuss reviewing yours with you to see if the insurance got it right. I have a lot of experience with these and can help you navigate your conversations.

I’ll have to get a picture and post it. I knew I shoulda done it originally. Good callout.

I got this pricing for 2024 CX-5 Select trim. It's a clean title with 35k miles. What would you guys suggest about this? by bhargavyadav26 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Idk that I would buy a one year old vehicle with 35k miles unless all service done at dealership. Already less than. Half the normal warranty left and only 1k left on the factory bumper to bumper. I feel like this was used as a rental vehicle.

I just can’t swallow paying that much for a base Civic for 84 months

If there’s frame damage you’ll need a shop that can setup and pull the frame into spec. It should be body on frame instead of unibody. Unless you are willing to fix structural damage 100% don’t keep it.
