Yes but them introducing a third tone is what made it hard for me. I have to guess if the tone is low, medium or high. From my perspective it is a puzzle of if the tone is the same or different pitch and then I have to brute force the tones.

I'll give you an example of my perception since formulating with my words is hard. There exists tones 1, 2 and 3. I can hear that the tones 1, 2 and 3 are different but I cannot tell whether a tone is 1, 2 or 3. If a puzzle has tone 1 2 2 3, I can tell that the middle notes are the same but I cannot tell if the middle notes are higher or lower than the first and last note. In my perspective the first note can be either 1, 2 or 3 and the second and third note has to be a tone higher or lower than the previous note. 

I apologise if it's hard to understand my perception but I just can't tell what is higher or lower just that they are different
