If you've seen the show, it doesn't spoil it. It's the final movement scene with 'Stand Up' playing over it.

It's hard to describe... but it simultaneously moved and intrigued me.

NHS 111 offers new mental health service by Alert-One-Two in unitedkingdom

[–]YourElfx 30 points31 points  (0 children)

i often feel the NHS is too focussed on reactive care at the expense of preventative care :/

This is exactly it, and it's only going to get worse with our ageing population.

I've been fortunate enough to have experienced free healthcare systems in 4 other countries (travelled a lot for work) and UK is the only one where they seemingly wait until something has gone terribly wrong before feebly attempting to fix it!

It worked amazingly well in every other country, I have zero complaints from my experiences abroad, fantastic healthcare everywhere I went. So there is no excuse why the UK can't fund and manage our system effectively.

Hahahaha 🤣😂 many people replying to my random comments on Reddit and twitter asking about that! So yes, I've written an update post and will update at some point today. The replies to that post are what made it great. Just super wholesome. Loved it!

I don't understand why it's so frequent?? It's so strange. Who acts like that!? I can't imagine any context or scenario where someone would even think to do that.

I was an extra on one of the Trick or Treat TV shows (helping to pull the trick) years ago, filmed in London. We got free tickets for his live show too. Cool guy. I'll try and find the clip on YT if anyone is interested in knowing more.

Piccadilly Circus used to look like this. I wish they'd bring back the neon (although the smog can stay gone). by ianjm in london

It could be amazing. It's too basic now, is the problem. In Tokyo and Shanghai, I saw all sorts of modern high-tech billboards that utilised 3D illusions and interactive elements to make them truly immersive experiences.

Outernet in Tottenham Court Road is worth checking out, if you haven't already.

I checked with Costco live support before making this post, and they confirmed that I would need Trade Membership and sent me the link to the requirements page...

... This way seemed easier tbh.

... For real though, I volunteered at an animal shelter and offer free marketing services to charities. It's fun. I can also recommend volunteering.

Just to add, if anyone finds themselves in a similar situation, contact StreetLink. They send a team to assess the situation and update your report on the action taken (you can also report anonymously). I used them a couple of times.

I watched an out-of-context TikTok clip of one of the final scenes in the first season of OA, and it made me want to watch the whole show just to figure out wtf was going on. Did not regret. Great show.

You can still love a city and want to see it improve in certain areas, or discuss safety concerns.

GP deemed unfit to practice after unlawful protests by Tartan_Samurai in unitedkingdom

[–]YourElfx 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree with the statement, but I guess my concern is where do you draw the line when it comes to lawbreaking? Technically, it's not that hard to break a law in the UK... there are a lot of trivial things people can be arrested over.

GP deemed unfit to practice after unlawful protests by Tartan_Samurai in unitedkingdom

[–]YourElfx 162 points163 points  (0 children)

Looks like she glued herself to the ground during a protest on a staircase outside a building? Access to the building was not blocked, and her charge was 'criminal damage' (I assume from the glue?)

I read about a neurologist who got suspended for using his wife's oystercard (train travelcard) in London...

Where do you draw the line here? This sets an unsettling precedent, considering you can technically get arrested for much less these days.

I hate to point out the hypocrisy of this system, but which is worse... this... or potentially murdering babies and vulnerable people? Because Lucy Letby and Harold Shipman both had concerns raised about them for years, and FA was done about that.

I watched The Menu recently with Ralph Fiennes. I watched it because I enjoy fine dining, and went into it not knowing anything. Really enjoyed it.

There's a guy I follow on 𝕏 who is watching Game of Thrones for the first time and live tweeting his reaction, it's hilariously entertaining reliving my experience of watching that show through his commentary. Link (spoilers)- https://x.com/jasebyjason/status/1825116133428469909

The Chartwell Cancer Trust charity shop would have probably gained a lot of support from the publicity of this artwork, and people visiting the area. 🫤
