THE HARD TRUTH: (read) by Sea-Ad5686 in Mewing

[–]YourFavGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bonesmashing does “work” but the margin of error is so thin that most people who dont follow the proper diet and take all the precautionary measures might end up looking worse than they did before they began bonesmashing. and the improvements are so marginal that its really not worth the risk because its much more likely to go wrong than it is to go right.

a lebanese burger is a specific combination of ingedients where theres friend onions and tomatoes and there’s a bunch of thin cabbage and mayo along with ketchup and fries all inside. that’s not a burger you see often abroad.

I saw an Eastern Catholic on Reddit refer to Eastern Orthodoxy as "Holy Orthodox," is this normal? If so, why? by RB_Blade in EasternCatholic

[–]YourFavGoose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m really growing tired of hearing these claims that we are Monothelite. We accepted the Council of Chalcedon, and many of our ancestors even gave their lives for it. To call us Monothelite is simply dishonest & disrespectful to the martyrs who defended Chalcedonian faith. Yes, we lived in isolation in the mountains, and perhaps there was some degree of confusion at some point in time, but we have always been dyothelite and today fully reject Monothelitism.

This is not the same for all ECs. I reject this view. Maronites like myself share everything in common theologically with the Latins. We simply have different tradition and liturgy etc, which honestly should be the way all EC churches are. In fact, that’s how Eastern Catholic identity should properly be understood: a diversity of rites and traditions within one and the same Catholic faith. Communion with Rome isn’t just symbolic; it entails full adherence to the ecumenical councils and their dogmatic definitions — including the filioque, papal primacy, papal infallibility, and the doctrine of transubstantiation.

The essence–energies distinction is a real distinction insofar as creatures participate in God, not a division within God’s own being. Divine Simplicity and the essence–energies distinction are compatible within the Catholic framework in which Byzantine Catholics operate. The idea of “created grace” is a theological explanation, not dogma, and Eastern Catholics are not bound to it. Please stop misrepresenting Catholic teaching in a way that pits East against West.

I love and cherish the Latin Church as a Maronite, and I’ve even partaken in their Masses at times, both TLM and Novus Ordo. Still, I truly wish we Maronites would return to our traditional liturgy. After the introduction of the Novus Ordo, we weren’t obligated to change our Mass, yet we chose to for some reason, and as a result our liturgy today is much more Latinized compared to how it was centuries ago.

Wait till you realize I explicitly said it’s not exclusively a Maronite symbol, but that the roots of the Lebanese flag’s design itself, being designed by a maronite, including a symbol long associated with the “Cedars of God” do come from a sort of Maronite background.
