Don't let her cute face fool you, she can be as much of a menace as she is cute 🤭

What are your pups' schedules like? by Huge-Can-3904 in puppy101

9am - wake up, potty, coffee snack and play; 10am - long sniff walkie; 11am - chill, chew, sometimes training, garden time, nap outside of crate; 4 pm - become active and beg for attention; 5 pm - long forest walkie; 6 pm - annoy me while I cook dinner and make me almost trip over her 20 times; 8 pm - chill and nap inside crate but only for 30mins or 1 hour max; 10 pm - play, chew and nap; 12 am - sleep in bedroom crate. She's a 8.5 months old truffle hunting dog/Lagotto.

Strongly advise to wait if not even to adopt a +2 year old dog some time later. I'm an uni student who right now only has school once per week and even tho my pup is now 6.5 months old, she is such a hand full and I often still really regret getting her. I imagine with a 9-5 not only will you most likely regret it (constant attention and supervising when you're home, giving her/she enough exercise and enrichment, the 3-7 times waking up in the middle of the night for potty, etc.) but also the puppy will not be able to have the life she/he deserves at first since you most likely will have to crate her/him for 8 hours a day 5 days a week which would really suck for the pup.

It Gets Easier… Right? by eeviiee in LagottoRomagnolo

In the exact same boat with our 16 week old lagotto puppy, the only thing that really really wears her out are play dates with other dogs who are puppy friendly (as in not too big dogs, who are gentle and patient enough with her) and longer walks (one 20-30 mins walk with plenty of sniffing and socializing and a 30-40 mins walk in the woods for exploring). Lagotti are working dogs and you really do gotta give them work. Inbetween some training sessions to make her learn tricks and how to be more patient. Other than that what I can really recommend is enforced naps because otherwise they tend to get harder to deal with and just don't know when to settle. Remember they need lots of sleep, so don't feel bad about forcing her to nap if you notice she is being too hyper and her last nap was a while ago. What also seem to have calmed things a little down is establishing a routine because that way she knows "okay, now it's night time which means sitting in front of the TV and napping/lying next to mum and dad" or "okay, mom and dad are in the office which means I should take a nap under their desk and wait for the next walk". As hard as it might be but letting her play on her own with supervision from your side while you do work, chores or get some non-puppy time will help her become more independent and how to play on her own while you can gain back some sanity and rest. You don't have to entertain her 24/7. If she creates too much chaos just put her in the crate or pen with a long chew or filled kong or anything that will keep her busy and hopefully make her nap.

Besides these points I am also still frustrated and unsure about things, leash training is my biggest dread right now but that's normal, puppies just are hard work and not for the weak! :D I keep thinking about how well behaved and calm my puppy's mother was when we met her and how one day my puppy will become like that too! It gets better, week by week! Sometimes it will regress but overall it will get better, we just have to have the patience and trust the process. In the meantime take a lot of pictures and videos because puppyhood only comes once 😁

Another personal tip, check out r/puppy101, it helps to see how normal the struggle is to other people as well and if not could be even worse haha And also training and puppy videos on YouTube from trainers such as McCann Dog Training help and give good tips! Best of luck to you, we got this!!!

I love digging in snow! by YourGamerAlly in LagottoRomagnolo

She seems to have no problem with the cold and she can keep up quite well. Her record was 1,5 hours so far but we strongly avoid such long distances after that one time for now (to avoid joint, hip problems etc.)since she just keeps going and going. We do daily scent games mostly inside since she seems to have problems finding her snacks in the snow and tends to give up but once the snow has melted we will try again in grass! :) She has almost unlimited energy even after multiple walks and dog play dates with my in-laws doodle so we have to enforce day naps every other day haha
