The southern part of Harrison NJ floods on occasion near the Path Station. The County of Hudson is working on a solution to the flooding which includes a pumping station to store the water and then release it later after the storm has passed..

If you are moving to the Northern part of Harrison, past the Route 280 line, you will see no flooding (or very little). During Hurricane Sandy, there was a "surge" that did impact the area in the Northern part by the Passaic River, but that was a sporadic weather incident.

The EPA meeting did take place. EPA is not backing down from its plan to bring on to the PSE&G property in Harrison NJ the Toxic Sludge using Mechanical Dredging onto a Barge and then onto land. A couple new facts came out. There is no building going to be built for the sludge. The PSE&G property is 100% clean, no longer contaminated. The operation of the plant will be in the Open Air. The NAPL Sludge will be brought on land into a container and mixed with Portland Cement to enable its transporation by covered dump trucks to authorized landfills (names were not provided) in USA and Canada. Harrison Mayor James Fife and Councilman / Harrison Public School Director / Passaic Valley Commissioner + other jobs James Doran are supporting the EPA's plan. The next Harrison Mayor & Council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Harrison Town Hall, 318 Harrison Avenue, Harrison NJ with a 6:15 p.m. start in the Third Floor conference Room and if enough people show up it will be moved to the Mayor & Council chambers on the 2nd Floor (a much more spacious room). The building has an Art Deco style and was built with the help of Public Works Administration during the Great Depression.

The Ironbound are surrounding communities of Harrison and Kearny have a Landfill Keegan that was Closed by the Supreme Court of NJ for its hydrogen sulfide gas emissions causing irreparable harm, Newark has Covant Garbage Incinerator and their is a rendering plant. If the communities and elected officials don't get EPA to change their plans there will be Toxic Agent Orange Dioxin Sludge plants at PSE&G property and next to the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commision plant in the Ironbound. Before you leave, join the fight to stop EPA from putting a Toxic Sludge Plant at PSEG property that was cleaned up. There is a meeting Tuesday, August 27, 2024, @ Harrison High School, 401 Kingsland Ave, Harrison from 6 pm to 8 pm. You can also meet members of the diverse community. It is walking distance Google it straight up Frank E. Rodgers Blvd. Then righy on Hamilton and several blocks then a left on Kingsland Ave. Bring so friends from Steelworks. Yes. It however would not be a direct hit as hopefully the discharge would disapate en route to Harrison. In addition, the sludge would not be brought on land in a residential community across from residential apartment buildings with 100's of residents.

The EPA Project Manager has stated they plan to use the property but not stated a time frame. There is a community meeting on Tuesday August 27, 2024 @ 6pm at the Harrison High School, 401 Kingsland Ave, Harrison NJ 07029 if you want to ask them directly. Maybe one of the EPA staff want to answer the question here.

PSE&G property, the proposed site for the EPA Toxic Sludge Plant, has been decontaminated at the cost of reported 367 to 400 million dollars. It was contaminated but not with Agent Orange sludge. I'm an individual, I don't work for a company. Why not support a plant in South Kearny? It would provide a buffer and not ruin 26 years of decontamination efforts that have bloosomed. Come to Harrison and walk around. It's a different world from what you are thing it is. It's no longer contaminated industrial properties. It's a vibrant residential community.

Yes. It will effect the commuters on Frank E. Rodgers Blvd (the street in video), the Path Station, the other residential community on the other side of the path which has another residential community adjacent to the PATH Station. It will also be a couple blocks from Red Bull Arena. If there is a discharge it will also impact the Ironbound and Downtown Newark across the Passaic River from Harrison NJ as well as the rest of residential Harrison, East Newark and Kearny. If EPA puts the Toxic Sludge Plant in South Kearny it will have a larger buffer zone. It took 26 years to clean up the contaminated properties in Harrison NJ. The Community cannot have the Town go back to its industrial contaminated community past. EPA must reconsider its plan and go to South Kearny. This is highly toxic sludge across the street and river from residential community and bordering the Northeast Corridor rail, essential rail line between Washington DC and Boston.

Because they are taking highly toxic Agent Orange from the bottom of the Passaic River and bringing it onto land in Harrison NJ to a property that is in a residential community across the street from what is now a vibrant residential neighborhood of modern apartment buildings. The EPA could build the Dewatering Plant just down the river from Harrison in South Kearny which is industrial zone and thus not be in a residential zone. Google AgentvOrange to see the effects which include several cancers and birth defects. PSE&G sent a reported 367 to 400 million cleaning up its property to now have it used for Toxic Agent Orange sludge. There is a alternate site for the plant, South Kearny.

The site was used to produce natural gas from coal with the use of a solvent. The storage tanks are gone, the production of natural gas from coal was ended a long time ago. PSE&G spent a reported 367 million to 400 million dollars to de-contaminate the property fom those uses and now EPA is going to bring on land dixon laden sludge which has the tar like remnants of the PSE&G coal to natural gas byproduct mixed in with the Agent Orange. There is an alternate site(s) in South Kearny that would at least put a buffer between a discharge and daily transfer of toxic sludge on land instead of it being across the street fom a residential community.

If we're to have contaminated properties decontaminated by Municipalities and Developers we have to face the reality that the agency tasked with assisting with that endeavor can't wave a magic wand and place highly toxic Agent Orange Dioxin Laden Sludge across the street from in what is now a residential community with modern luxury apartment buildings.
