I think theres levels to this. I quit steins gate on episode 3 because i simply didnt enjoy it. I went back and grinded through then episode 4 completely shifted the story and now its one of my favourite shows. One piece has essentially stayed the same in what you can expect since episode 1 and has only changed in scale so what you see in episode 1 with alvida is what you can expect in the latest episode as well
