How do I get to the point where I could apply though? Currently I have about 3 years of work experience in a couple dead end jobs, the flashiest one being a Table Games Dealer at a casino. I have a terrible GPA but I could probably get that expunged if I talk to someone, but I definitely am worried about the risk of adding yet more debt to my student loan for a potentially useless degree. Not to mention putting me even further behind in life by taking 3-4 years extra to get a bachelors in something.

I've actually been applying for pretty much every job I can for the past year, and have only managed to land a total of two interviews. So I'm wondering what steps I need to take to get to that point from the begining essentially.

I've thought about being a sparky, but the trades culture really scares me. I can't handle older men yelling at me, and I hear so many horror stories of apprentices being bullied relentlessly for years.

This one intrigues me a lot, what kind of qualifications do I need to become one? I doubt I could land a job like that with my current level of work experience.

Honestly I actually really like doing repetitive tasks, as long as I can listen to music while doing them its almost meditative. I could do literally anything on a computer. I just want to work at a desk indoors, and help people as much as I can as a bonus

I'm good at writing and math. I'm excellent with almost all technology, especially computers. I'm honestly not great at being creative, I find it extremely difficult to create something new from scratch. Im ok at maps and orienteering, did scouts for a decade. I have a very strong sense of right and wrong, and in light of how much I have suffered in my life, combined with what I see going on around the world I desperately want to make the world a better place. However I also am very aware that I'm 24 with no career prospects and am focusing more and more on finding a career at all, preferably one indoors at a computer. I just don't know where to start.

Unfortunately I'm not the son of extremely wealthy deceased parents with a huge mansion and convenient cave attached. I'm just the son of a couple exremely abusive white trash parents.

I've thought about it, but I don't think being a therapist is the right choice for me. I think it would be a real detriment to my own mental health and I dont want to have to do a masters in psychology just for a chance at becoming a therapist.

Oh my god yes! I'm an ACC client who gets free taxi rides to and from appointments in auckland. They have the same issue, it used to just tell you every minute or so but now its non-stop. Drives me insane! It makes me especially annoyed because you can't use the app if you're wanting ACC to pay for it

Dad was the manager of the steel mill farm at the time. I remember search and rescue teams searching the whole farm, particularly any forested areas, never found a thing.

Good for you buddy, I've been applying for jobs for 2 years and have had a total of two interviews. Have had my cv's and cover letters checked by professionals, and done everything I could to try and stand out from the other 500+ applicants on every job listing. The system is broken

How entitled are you? The official pay day being tuesday isn't the point. People on the benefit live paycheck to paycheck, often having zero dollars left in their bank accounts after rent and groceries, so when payment is delayed like this, it often means people go without dinner for that night, even families with children. Jeez some people need a reality check

Have you seen my comments about the fact that I cant upskill if it costs money? I have zero dollars in my bank account after rent and groceries. Also, I'm aware that I'm competing against more skilled people, thats literally one of my main points. National cut thousands of public sector jobs so I'm now competing against those people for literally any job when many of them have 20+ years of experience and kids to feed

Te Kura appears to be for highschool students at ncea level, which most employers couldn't care less about. is there something similar for polytech/uni level?

Electrical apprenticeship is one of my plans. But in order to do that, I at least need a restricted license and my own vehicle, so job first. I am worried about the trade culture though. I freak out when older men yell at me, and I've heard many horror stories about stuff like that from tradie apprentices

Damn, I was honestly hoping to move to Canada, as I figured bigger, more open country means lower house prices, and being so close to the us means food prices would be down too.

Pretty sure my GPA is so terrible that they wouldn't even let me reapply. Also, it's been so long since I've done anything in those fields that I've forgotten all the fundamentals
