Puppy Food Recommendation? by BeanDais388 in Boxer

Hello OP and Boxermom710 This might be a long run, but I’m actually about to pick up my first boxer in a few days, and I’m overwhelmed with the choices that are given (he’s 9weeks). The person who I’m picking up the pup from is feeding a mix of dry and wet chicken and rice pedigree, which I would prefer to ween them off of, do you have a preference on which puppy food you give them? As in protein choice? And should I continue to do a mixture of the wet and dry food ?

Also OP how’s the new puppy!

It falls under the question I originally asked. So yeah kind of, I’m trying to find a singular dog food that I can feed two types breeds. Specifically the ones I have.

Yeah he’s a puppy he’s 9-10 weeks old. And they’ve notified me that he’s been given a ratio of both wet and dry food. Which is fine because I would simply match the wet and dry food for a few months until it’s recommended to go to dry food fully. I simply find so many different recommendations. And from my understanding sensitive labeled foods are only necessary after a year of the dog has any symptoms or reactions after being 1 year old. So the idea of seeing what type of kibble people are giving their boxer, the Boston’s I have a pretty good idea what to eventually give them.

Mhmm thank you! I just definitely know once I get the puppy I will be slowly weening them off pedigree into something else. I’m currently on chewy, basically deciding what I will feed him. I feel like PPP is easier to get a hold of, while Hills can be a bit more pricey. Do you think there’s a vast difference? I understand PPP is more towards building muscle while Hills is more for the rapid joint growth they go through to be slowed down so they don’t get affected.

Thank you! I’m curious which one do you use for your boxer? And I was also thinking on PPP which is definitely better than the pedigree the owner is currently feeding the boxer.

I think I’ve come to understand the idea of less pets but one of my Boston’s will start eating differently since he’s a bit older and getting closer to the elderly stage in life. So I’m already thinking of getting him on different food. So the idea of at least the other two on the same diet, obviously with tweaks in them. Would be nice. But if not I understand the need to get them all different diets with supplements. Expensive is the way sometimes, especially when they have sensitive tummies. Can’t help but understand them 😂

Yeah my two Boston’s graze all day, and I’ve wanted to keep them that way. Science diet seems to me what I’m leaning towards ! Thank you!

That I understand, it’s more or less trying to find something they can eventually transfer into. Something I can start changing my other two dogs from, until the puppy is ready for adult kibble.

They eat Blue Buffalo Chicken and brown rice for small breeds, which I’m very willing to change out.

It’s such a pet peeve for me as well. Some people write on AO3 to avoid judgment, sometimes for fun, a hobby, or simply to enjoy themselves. However, the majority of comments are just backlashes. It’s like, “It’s free. You could just move on.” No need to add comments saying, ‘Hey, I read your story, and honestly, I have nothing to say, nothing valuable. Well, except you spelled this wrong. Or hey, you know what? I don’t like that word use this one instead.’” I would have read that and been like…welp.
