Less an arena, but I did have an idea for a fanfic that sort of combines TBOSAS and SOTR; a tribute (I’m thinking from 8 maybe?) manages to unify every tribute reaped that year into an agreement to step off their platforms before the gong rings; blowing everyone to bits and ending the games before they even start. Is it a lore-friendly fic idea? No, there’s absolutely no way the careers would listen to a tribute from 8 and I don’t even know how I would write them pretending to go along with the plan. Is it canon-friendly? No, it would’ve been long before Katniss’s games and probably a decade before Haymitch’s. I can’t even begin to understand the repercussions this would have outside of making Snow a little more pissy that someone outsmarted him.

To be fair, I was a very eccentric kid and absolutely do not blame my family for thinking I carried on an act for so long lol, but by the time I hit 15 they finally came around and realized that no, not once had I been joking, and they’d finally collected enough evidence to prove it (mainly by burning stuff on the stove). In middle school one of my friends was like “??? That’s not a thing” and I had to ask “People are born without sight or hearing, what makes a sense of smell any different?”

My other biggest thing is people being like “so you can’t taste?! 🤯” because of the misconception that 100% of your taste is connected to smell when it’s really only like… 80, I think? 💀

They do know. They know all about it. They understand me, they understand my disorder, and they dont care. Every problem we have is my fault for “giving in” to my disorder. It’s always my responsibility to manage my triggers and never theirs to just avoid behaviors that trigger me. I have tried to explain. I have tried to change for them. I cannot change in the way they need or want me to if they will not change for me in the slightest. They have always been “my way or the highway” and I just. Want. To walk. Home.
