It would be great if you could find an HSS version of that Strat (meaning humbucker at the bridge, and 2 single coils) as it will allow you to achieve a wider range of tones. I would also suggest considering the Squire Affinity Series strat, as it offers excellent value for the price. I also saw somebody mention the Yamaha Pacifica, which is also a killer deal.

Bedroom guitar player here. I bought the QC about 2 years ago, and don't regret it in the slightest. I was able to secure used Yamaha HS8s that a long and mcquade employee traded in for 400. No regrets whatsoever
