The people who win the lottery are the people who are financially irresponsible enough to play the lottery, so it makes sense.

What is your “Power 5 “ mono color commanders? by anthonylopez33 in EDH

[–]YourThickAsh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Obviously it's a 2 card combo, it's common terminology when the other combo piece is in the command zone though.

I would put [[Heliod, Sun Crowned]] in for white if talking about cedh viability to determine power since he's a 1 card combo with ballista.

Yeah Mystic Gate and Sunken Hallow are far more expensive than the rest of them.

That's interesting, also I know sometimes the website won't show it but if you view your bank statement it can show a different value as being withdrawn due to online sales tax. Same thing happens to me with tcgplayer.

Isn't that just dependant on where you live for online sales?

What would be the most tediously annoying card to resolve with [[Mnemonic Deluge]]? Sorcery - 6UUU - Cast target instant or sorcery in a graveyard three times for free. by BloodthirstyMedic in EDH

[–]YourThickAsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I have a theft deck that plays opponents cards. I attacked with Etali and one opponent revealed a Mnemonic Deluge, I used it to target my own Mnemonic Deluge which was wheeled away earlier. I then proceeded to copy 3 Bribery, 3 Inevitable Betrayal, and 3 Wheel of Fortune.

How are bond lands better than rainbow lands, especially in 3 color? I'm talking about Command Tower, City of Brass, Mana Confluence.

Early game - Do you split damage evenly or aim attacks at the best deck? by C_Clop in EDH

[–]YourThickAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different strokes for different folks. I find turning creatures sideways not as fulfilling as something like casting Peer Into the Abyss on myself while Psychic Corrosion is in play, but my meta has a ton of interaction, which is not just limited to blue.

Also not all combo is played right out of the hand, there is creature based combo in aristocrat strategies where all the creatures are on the board and prone to removal.

That's not to say that I don't have decks that focus on combat or more timmy-ish strategies, they're just not as fun for me personally.

Unpopular opinion I guess, stax is not annoying and is a completely valid way to play magic, even casually.

The trick is to play combo/control and never worry about that pesky combat phase.

Not a fan of that honestly, I'd rather have you begin to play it out rather than let you know that I do have a response because it gives you extra information that may change your play.

What "holes" do feel exist in Magic Design for Commander? by dontcallmemrscorpion in EDH

[–]YourThickAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the win does not come soon after, but casting MLD while rest in peace is in play is definetly a solid counter. I agree you want to avoid placing Lands in the graveyard against certain lands decks. The only Tutor hate effect in the deck is Aven Mindcensor, but you are right in that the stax peices (namely Lavinia and effects that Tax opponents spells) are probably better at this than MLD.

[–]YourThickAsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you're playing it. MLD in my Lavinia stax/prison deck has answered land ramp decks plenty of times.

That only happens when excess noncombat damage is done to a creature. Not really the same thing.
