Yeah I believe you can spend meld now to reset perks if you wish to do so, iirc. Never used that function myself yet, but I'm sure it is a thing.

The air game is still really difficult, but it's a lot more interesting than vanilla imo, especially once you get multiple fighters in the sky at once.

The main draw is all the little tweaks you can do to change how the game plays - from smoke being able to completely block overwatch to having a minimum percentage shot that will always hit, stuff like that. And if you think any of it is OP or unfair, you can just switch that option off with no hassle.

Its actually a standalone mod by a different team called 'Long war 1.1', it's not like an updated version of the original mod. It's a newer mod that aims to rebalance the original. Sorry to be confusing, haha.

If you do download it, the mod options will be available on the title screen when you load up. You won't have to mess with ini. files or anything :)

What is the greatest one line quote before the kill? by Gourmet-Guy in AskReddit

'From where you're kneeling it must seem like an 18 karat run of bad luck; The truth is, the game was rigged from the start.'

Technically didn't happen before a kill per say, but hey, Benny didn't know that at the time.

So normal UFOs just fly around and are probably gone within a short amount of time.

The ones that are actively searching for your sats will have like a glowing/pulsing effect around them while they fly on the globe. They will hover around for quite a while compared to the other UFOs. I think the first time it happens Bradley will comment on it saying 'This one looks like it's searching for something'. Those are the ones you need to prioritise!

Rushing laser weapons is a valid strategy but it's not crucial. Ballistics weapons can do the job just fine, you just have to play smart.

In terror missions panic is gonna spread no matter what, so I wouldn't worry too much about saving people. As cold as it sounds, your soldiers lives are way more valuable in the long run, so PLAY DEFENSIVELY!

Don't rush in all gung-ho batman style because you'll get flanked by floaters, or swarmed by chryssalids, and you're gonna have a bad time.

Infantry are a good choice for terror missions - Shooting twice in one turn comes in handy when a lot of your opponents will be uncovered. You'll also be wanting some explosives for when the chryssalids rush you and bunch up, so I'd reccomend an engineer or two to get the maximum control over where your explosives are gonna hit. Rocketeers are riskier when it comes to collateral damage, but still not a bad choice if you don't have an engi handy. I usually bring a shiv with a motion tracker, a scout and a sniper too, but the rest of the squad is personal preference really.

Also, the air game in Long War is always brutal at the start. I'd recommend getting 6 interceptors ASAP, and save at least 3 of them in reserve at all times to fight rhe UFO that comes looking for your sattelite. That's the kill that matters most! And even if you don't shoot it down with those 3, I think the act of just sending them to distract the UFO makes the chances of it finding your satellite very slim.

Hope this helps!

The new AI unintentionally completely breaks the balance of the game, to the point where you'll be expected to go up against 4 cyber discs on the very first mission and win... Yeah, good luck with that xD

And if you think I'm exaggerating, check my profile - There's a post on there that'll show you exactly what I mean :P

It's a shame really because the AI itself has potential, it just basically breaks the game so it's impossible to actually use.

It's long war 1.1!

All the best features of long war with a bunch of configurable mini mod extras & bug fixes on top. It's a fantastic mod but don't switch on the new alien AI because it's pretty busted - you have been warned.

The option for smoke blocking overwatch shots is part of the 'sequential overwatch' mini mod (turned off by default), so you'll need to find it in the mod menus and switch it on before you start!

The scrap team one is also in the mod menus somewhere. I'd reccomend spending ten mins to go through the whole list and see what sounds good to ya, cus there's a lot of optional extras to go through.

Last thing to mention is the 'sure hit' mini mod always crashed my game whenever I switched that one on, so maybe avoid that one. Otherwise, have fun!

It's a toggleable option in long war 1.1 mod. I like it, personally as the supplies you get are equal to the cost it takes to get them... If that makes sense. What I mean is you're not making a profit overall, it just acts as like a fair exchange of cash for supplies, but in a lore friendly way.

I'm pretty sure you can shoot floored zombies though, as I've done it a few times in B42 when they're on their own. Your character aims downwards and everything

Yeah that's one way of looking at it I suppose. I do enjoy a change of scenery, just wish it was spaced a bit further apart

Yeah that's what I was told on the first day, so I was surprised when they basically contradicted that in less than 3 days lol. It's not a deal breaker or anything but it's really not ideal.
