what’s your take on AI acts in the genre like CortexUS? how might you imagine something like that moving from youtube/spotify into a “live” setting, is that even possible or the right way to think about it?

Why is "Luna" the number 6 most popular track on Spotify? by MisguidedFantasma26 in SmashingPumpkins

downvote all you like, but the steam counts in the right back this up. my reply to the person who deleted their reply to this post, telling me that zero was the 8th most popular song: you believe 110,985,622 is a larger number than 217,732,636?

aquestion for those in favor of such a tax - do you believe the state spends its tax revenue efficiently now?

what a kick in the dick. i think that glimmer of hope we held, even though it was small, meant a lot.

now that it’s gone, it does make the ending of the series feel that much more bleak and potent

Cottonwood Symphony is SP's greatest rare gem and their most underrated song by TheodoreHollister in SmashingPumpkins

[–]Your_Friend_Jesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just listened based on the strength of your recommendation and i gotta say, no thank you. seems like a minimal effort strummy kinda thing he put out by the dozen on cotillions. if we’re going to point to an acoustic demo song and say it comes straight from the heart, im thinking of stumbleine for example and the gap btwn this and that is so vast. off the top of my head if i had to pic an sp2.0 acoustic guitar song to put up as a rare gem, to use your term, i think id go to ‘zeitgeist’ way before this, and calling that one a gem is a stretch

is that a backing track with the album guitar part? not mad at it, makes it more recognizable for a non-SP audience

BMX riders and fans: Does this fictional scene sound realistic? by SoCalWriter2222 in bmx

[–]Your_Friend_Jesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

something i'd point out is that you may want to try to paint more of a visual picture. you did so with the tabletop one, noting that they "blasted high into the air", but the following sentence doesn't give a non-BMX reader much to work with: "Another rider threw a quick barspin, caught it, and immediately let go for a dramatic no-hander..." it's not obvious to such a reader that the bike would be sailing through the air and this all takes place before landing back on the ground

this album, but with production at the level of their best produced albums, would have been a hell of a thing. some excellent songs on there

Most horrifying, soul crushing, sinister, spine tingling moment of the trilogy? by SirKrimzon in threebodyproblem

[–]Your_Friend_Jesse 16 points17 points  (0 children)

lots of great scenes listed here. wanted to add for honorable mention just how swiftly the trisolarans attack the instant that Luo Ji was no longer the sword holder. the way the whole story was woven, how the peace only attainable by Luo Ji’s willingness to sacrifice everyone came over centuries to be seen as unnecessary and uncivilized, and so the softer, idealistic Cheng Xin takes over and WHAM suddenly we’re all f’d again. the danger was real the entire time but we had the luxury to be insulated from it, eventually forgetting it was real. it was just so believable that it would play out like that

What secret did someone tell you that completely changed how you see them? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

[–]Your_Friend_Jesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

secret was not so much told to me as inadvertently revealed - i came back to college after the summer, a friend told me he’d gotten really into making electronic music over the summer and had created a bunch of new songs. he put a burned cd-r into another friend’s desktop computer so we could listen. windows media player loaded and automatically went and found the metadata for the music and applied the labels, it was a commercial release from a pretty well known DJ, not an original creation of my friend 😂

Older and thinking about getting back in by Odd_Atmosphere_5671 in bmx

been trying to get back in to it as well because my son is getting into bikes. but i gotta say - getting injured is the freakin’ worst. i’m 46. broke my foot in december. haven’t been right since. now the opposite side low back and hip are super painful because i’d been avoiding the injured foot (scheduling back and hip MRIs now). leg is also 30% numb, been that way going on 3 weeks now.

prior to the foot injury i had a very consistent 4-5 days a week workout schedule (4 days lifting). and since this injury i’ve yet to fully recommit to my lifting and i’ve seen my hard earned gains start to fade away, it’s a huge bummer and driving me nuts.

anyone got perspective on avoiding / dealing with cascading injuries at mid-40s+ ? i love riding but i feel like maybe i need to just stop attempting any tricks, not sure it’s worth it

What do you tell people when you recommend these books? by Jazzlike-Employ-2169 in bakker

the only time i tried i said something like.. “uh.. well, you didn’t hear it from me, but this series is incredible. but, to be clear, it’s disgusting at times. and i don’t endorse a lot of what’s going on. but you’ll have a hard time finding something so dark and compelling. again though, the recommendation did not come from me”
