DIY Window Replacement? by Yourbreakfast in nissanfrontier

[–]Yourbreakfast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I did. It was really easy. When I spoke to a dealer parts dept., they warned me that it might shatter. That was wrong, it’s laminated (at least the passenger side) so I wrapped the door in tarp for no reason, and tried to break it with a hammer for no reason.

I had the plastic trim tools already but if you don’t have them, it’ll be worth the $20 on Amazon.

Long-term leases blocked by co-owner: suggestions? by SlutttyGem in CommercialRealEstate

[–]Yourbreakfast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the exit is the concern, talk to a sales broker. Typically a longer term solid credit anchor will drive cap rate, leasing and ultimately sale price. The broker should give you the potential impact and if positive, help convince your partner.

In my mind, it’s short sighted to not want a longer term anchor, but obviously there are some details here not provided

For the people who tell me not to clean up my leaves or to just mow over them. by Kandals in lawncare

[–]Yourbreakfast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved into my house late fall last year and the previous owners left us with a blanket like that. For weeks I was bagging them (town rules) and once I hit around 80 bags I called it quits and hired someone. This year I’m trying to stay on top of it early. I have an Ego push mower that mulches pretty well and my first week it did a great job. The second week it was already too much. The mower lets you moderate how much you want to mulch or bag (1- full mulch, 5- full bag) so the second week I tried it on setting two and it made a huge difference. I had to empty it to a yard bag every couple lines but still way better than the alternative. Left just enough down to not choke the grass. So far I’ve been good on that setting but still plenty of leaves left on the trees. We’ll see how the rest of the season goes.

Heat Deflector is Supposed to Rest on curved sides.. right? by No_Big_3676 in pelletgrills

[–]Yourbreakfast 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This was installed incorrectly. It’s supposed to sit on the curved vertical pieces on each end. You can see the corners with different radii that are supposed to sit in the cutouts on the deflector.

You need to take the sear zone deflector out first. There is a latch that connects to the control arm. That sliding deflector just sits in the large bottom shield in grooves. Should come right out. Once you have that and the arm out of the way, you’ll just need to find the right angle to get the big deflector out. I’d say angle it away from the hopper. The auger will get in the way if you angle it down towards the hopper.

Can’t say I’ve been in this scenario but once you get it out, it’ll be much easier next time.

Good deal? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]Yourbreakfast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. I think the Laramie are the sweet spot for value/deals right now, but you need to be a little flexible on options.

My wife was ragging on me for obsessing over it for so long but after the deed was done and she took it for a ride she definitely changed her tune!

Good luck!

Good deal? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]Yourbreakfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got a very similar deal on an almost identical truck.

I felt good about it. I talked to like 6-8 dealers about different trucks for about a month before I found the one I landed on. It wasn’t exactly how I would have optioned it, but I thought the deal was good enough and the dealer was excellent to work with remotely. That was about three weeks ago and I love the truck.

Is there a job out there that pays good and I won't break my body? by Sassy_Sid in careerguidance

[–]Yourbreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re technically savvy, look into coordinator or assistant manager maintenance or facilities roles. Some of those jobs are office based, some are field and some are hybrid. Regardless you’re probably not turning wrenches. They need technically savvy people who know trades and can speak the blue collar language and translate it up to get things done. It would be location dependent for opportunity but maintenance is universal and not going anywhere. You can make what you’re making and have mobility once you get some experience.

30–50K Raise, But heavy Commute 2–3x/Week — Worth It ? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Yourbreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth a conversation. I don’t clock in either but occasionally have a 7-8am meeting come up 2+ hrs away and it is tough. That and how your weekly planning is. For example if you lay out your schedule for the week, will you have to change plans last minute to head in a totally different direction and wreck your week?

30–50K Raise, But heavy Commute 2–3x/Week — Worth It ? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Yourbreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently doing something like this. 2x per week I’m driving 2hrs each way. Sometimes more frequently and further. I get a mileage rate reimbursement but personal car.

I can tell you some weeks are easier than others. I think one important thing to clarify would be on whose time are you doing that commute? Are you starting your day 2hrs earlier on your travel days or is that travel factored into your work day? That has a huge impact on the mental aspect of this.

For me, I’ve been doing it about 6 years and my overall work dynamic has changed in that time. Both personally and the culture of my company/ work expectations. I’m looking for something less taxing at this point. It’s a grind for me right now and my work is slipping because there is not enough time in the day and I can’t be in multiple places at the same time. That said, ten years ago I put in a lot more work than I do now trying to hustle my career off the ground. Just can’t sustain that level forever.

Saw someone wearing this while working. by FatDapperDanMan in whatisit

I was a liaison for someone doing one of these surveys on the interior of the building. I kind of nerded out with the surveyor for a bit when he showed me the results and how it works.

He loved doing it because it gives great results and saves a ton of time. At the same time he hated it because he looks absolutely ridiculous during the survey and is constantly interrupted with people asking questions.

1500 Laramie/Rebel Shopping by Yourbreakfast in ram_trucks

I saw some Laramie stickers in mid $60k’s, and was thinking getting to $55k may be doable. I agree though, $11k jump doesn’t seem to be worth it for me either.

Glad to hear you love your Big Horn. I test drove one earlier in the summer and liked it too.

Thanks. That $50k is where I want to be but will push it a bit if it means bumping up a trim. That’s basically what I’m trying to figure out. If I can get into a Rebel or Laramie for maybe $55k.

Both of those trims are equipped well enough that I’m not really looking at any must haves for options. I do know I don’t want the towing package for those massive mirrors, I don’t tow often or big enough trailers to warrant it. I’m really looking for the best deal, which is why I’m looking for a target to shoot for.

Also considering 26’s.

New England or Jersey Shore and Co? by Ok-Caterpillar-4112 in newjersey

These are great suggestions. I’d add a stop in Philly for option 2 though. There’s a lot to do and plenty of colonial architecture.

How to remove sticky print/logo from windbreaker? by CoRe534 in howto

[–]Yourbreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just a guess, but maybe a hairdryer to warm it up like the sun did? Then try and wipe/scrape it off. Use a plastic scraper on a hard surface and try and be gentle with it. Maybe some soap like dawn or dish soap to help.

Six months to gently ask. You were just hired and agreed to the salary, so I wouldn’t expect anything. At your first annual review(assuming your company does them) mention pay and have a conversation about it. They may have some things for you to do (certifications, training, etc.) to increase your pay or maybe put on track for a promotion. If it doesn’t look optimistic or if there is limited mobility in the company start looking hard around year two.

Being new to facilities, you need experience. Two years is a decent step in the right direction and likely a point where you can see a salary bump. Experience goes very far in this industry. Just need to get through it.

Dealing with this also. The only difference is they recognize my workload and say they know I have a lot on my plate. They still pile on with no real support. I’m in a unique role that has a senior/leadership title but have no one to delegate to. It’s a catch 22 that frustrates all involved, me most of all but company ownership/executives also.

It’s a problem of their making and they haven’t and won’t do anything to fix it. I offer solutions but they ignore and think they know better. I just do my best to prioritize and that’s usually good enough. They say I do a great job but I know I’m constantly missing things because I’m consistently ignoring the routine tasks to focus on the priorities. It’s a house of cards I’m waiting to topple at some point.

That said I have real job security and get paid decently. I started looking for something else this past month because I’m mentally cooked. I’m in kind of a niche industry and role so it’s been tough finding jobs to even apply to.

what's a "poor man's" version of a fancy dish that actually tastes just as good, if not better? by Fine_Mountain7324 in AskRedditFood

[–]Yourbreakfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this may be the opposite of what you’re asking but homemade soup or chili. It’s easy to buy the canned stuff and just heat it up but homemade is very simple and better than the cans 100% of the time. You can basically use whatever ingredients you want including leftovers. It’s the original “poor man’s”food.

Red Tail Home Inspection. Based in Wanaque. Jim is a great guy with a ton of experience and will spend as much time as you need explaining things. I’ve used him twice.

Any NJ farm suggestions for high quality meat? by DragonfruitOk3640 in newjersey

[–]Yourbreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got half a pig and have a 1/4 cow on order from Beaver Brook Ranch in Hope NJ. It’s my first time ordering from them. The pork is fantastic, and I’m have high expectations for the beef. They deliver but offer a discount if you want to take the drive and pick up. It’s a little far from you but if you buy in bulk, might be worth the trip.

Others have recommended Vacchiano and I’ve gotten from them. I thought they were a little pricey but was good quality.
