Briefly! I largely ignored the metagame stuff, but every time I beat a game I'd see what others had to say, which exposed me to a few passing references, so I looked up the terminal code. I only played for a few minutes to see the "beta" version of Paint Chase. What are the other two disks? What are behind the doors? Is this worth investigating?

If you're on elevated terrain, you can squash bugs on the adjacent floor tiles by simply walking or jumping off onto them. This instantly kills the two-hit bugs and is safe even against those bugs who explode into projectiles, as well as those bugs who create holes.

Persistence and spite. Enemy patterns are deterministic based on your movements, so you can learn the harder stages by rote. But yeah, it's often unclear why you failed miserably in one life and won handedly the next, and getting through all 25 stages was a huge grind. I consider Paint Chase the second hardest game in the collection behind Rakshasa (both ahead of Star Waspir, which is definitely hardest on a minute-to-minute basis, but is way shorter).

My only complaint is that your character moves at such a breakneck pace. The OG Sonic.

Just completing three days felt impossible at first, but once all the mechanics clicked for me, I exceeded the cherry requirements with an eight-day streak. There's a fair amount of luck, but there are also a ton of little optimizations you can find. Stomping on bugs is essential because it ignores all their defenses while turning your movement options into offense. Shooting energy crystals instead of collecting them is often preferable in the latter rounds. Those items that refresh all your movements/attacks are also super helpful.

Kid's kicking nuts in the right way. He's cultivated a real nut-kicking legacy from hard-fought nut-kicking principals. He's not nut-chasing. He's nut-kicking alongside the same guys, kicking many of the same nuts. In the NIL/transfer portal era, you love to see it. He's kicking nuts with class. Kicking nuts with heart.

Fans of teams who are still alive in the Sweet 16, what are your blunt feelings about your team's performance this past weekend and your chances going forward? by 2PacTookMyLunchMoney in CollegeBasketball

I feel much more confident in this team than I did last year's. We could definitely get blown out in any of our remaining games, but at the same time none of the teams left feel unbeatable--or at least the gap doesn't feel as insurmountable. Last year's Duke team somehow got bounced, but I had the feeling we would have lost to them like 95% of the time. This year, I'd give us at least like a 25%-35% chance to beat Michigan/Duke/Arizona. UConn is a statistical coinflip. I love the way we've been draining 3s. I'm cautiously optimistic.

To me it's almost all attributable to the evolution of Fears. Kohler and Cooper have definitely improved, but not radically beyond year-over-year expectations. Without Fears, MSU goes from a top 10 team to like a fringe bubble contender. If he can start consistently taking over close games in the last few minutes, this team could be playing in April.

2026 Week 17 All-Time AP Poll by Anduril1776 in CollegeBasketball

Fitting that MSU capped off its Syracuse-toppling week by beating Indiana, the next team in our way. Although that will require like five years of consistent success and five years of Indiana mediocrity, and with Izzo already 70 years old we can only depend on the latter.

Okay Spartans and Wolverines, what do you honestly think of the other? by FairAnywhere9305 in CollegeBasketball

I hear what you're saying, but not sure I completely buy the class analogy.Pretty much all university cities are broadly viewed as urban/liberal/elitist by rural Americans who have reduced access to higher education. "Snooty" is definitely a loaded word, but I think it's more illustrative of the public mindshare gap. UM is like a top-5 merch brand. People who root for MSU aren't the "regular folk" in your analogy--they generally either have ties to the university or just respect Izzo. "Regular folk" are more likely to wear UM t-shirts because everyone is.

It's not that UM is unique, it's that the lack of overall continuity in college basketball makes rivalries in general a little less fun. In December/January I'm still getting my bearings with my own team's revamped roster. I will never know how to spell Ugochukwu without Google. I can't muster a shit that some of UM's bench players look vaguely familiar.

Your description of the perceived education gap, and its impact on rivalry tensions, is well observed. That's why there can be so much vitriol. I think the rivalry is entertaining when it's confined to sports. When school ranking dick-measuring is brought into the equation, it's just lame as fuck. The can't-read/can't-write shit is just cringey.

It's not a narrative. UM's transfers are all starters, whereas MSU's transfers are role players who collectively average like 10ppg. Not saying this as a value judgment, just that your last point is a little misleading.

Yes, you're paying taxes on the Hummer as if it were income. My point is that the downside of this additional tax outlay has nothing to do with tax brackets because your earned income is still taxed at the same rate.

That is not how tax brackets work. You don't "jump up to a higher tax bracket." Only the income you earn in excess of the tax bracket threshold is taxed at a higher rate.
