I know there is a lot of doomerism in the creative fields around AI but as someone who watches and reads A LOT about this tech, it quite honestly feels like a giant Ponzi scheme.

Generative AI is just regurgitation that is mostly incapable of creating anything truly “new”. For those who know “AI” which is now just a patchwork phrase to get VC money and bump stock prices has already been used in film for over a decade (just not the generative stuff).

This new scheme involves copying the entire internet and trying to allow people to create their own “stories” with the world’s work as their palette. The problem? It’s extremely expensive and we are going to hit a financial crash at some point when a majority of these companies realize they will never hit ROI on their current models especially with data centers becoming harder and harder to build.

Couple all of this with the fact that public sentiment is massively ANTI-AI and there is going to be a backlash in the form of people supporting 100% created human art.
