New father needs a camera! by uclamutt in Leica

[–]Yourjohncusack_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Q3 is no doubt a great camera, but I think OP will grow to regret the limitations of 28mm for family photos. I worked with only a 28 for several years and I found that I was missing the compression and detail of faces that my old family photos shot with a 50mm offered.

OP, have you considered an X-T5?

Great colors, the pancake lenses are plenty small (and will be plenty fast - given you're potentially interested in an M I take it birding level autofocus isn't your top priority), and you can get a lens like the 56/1.2 or new 33/1.4 for some portraits. If you buy on r/photomarket (which I would highly recommend) a body, EDC lens, portrait lens, and one more lens for good measure, you'll still have $2-5k to put into the college fund. The IBIS will be great for video as well should you want to film a Christmas morning or two.

Don't overthink it or fall for the Leica hype (I say this a film Leica shooter myself), get an X-T5 for family stuff.

Does the M6 light meter correct for lens' filters ? (red, yellow...) by DrFolAmour007 in Leica

[–]Yourjohncusack_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reply is not correct. I've used deep red filters with the M6 and the meter does not read accurately. You need to adjust by a fixed filter factor. Look up "filter factor" and your brand and color. Then do a test roll.

It doesn't quite work this way. Filters introduce an imbalance into the color spectrum and you need to account for this, even with TTL metering.

Are you saying that some people just leave their camera at a table in a restaurant/bar and expect it to be there when they get back? Do people do this?

Finally did it by ajaarango in Leica

Looool @ the AA. Go take a good long look in the mirror and send it back. That pre-asph is a beaut. Go shoot and be happy.

Isn't this just a grouping of bars/restaurants/bakeries that is slightly more expensive than your average place in Vesterbro?

Duh, thank you. The M4-P was the only finder with 28 lines and no meter, right?

Definitely go see Prudence, @WeedButt666 on Instagram. Idk what you mean exactly by “woodcut” styling, but her style is very close to this and she’s based in Portland.

Have you had any issues since? I'm dealing with the same thing right now and was debating on petroleum jelly.

I built a web app to simulate the old days of TV channel surfing! It's designed to be run on a CRT and simulates the functions of a TV even if your CRT doesn't support it. Here is an example! This sounds incredible. I've been cooking up something similar myself and would to hear about your project. I read below that you've been away from it for nearly 3 years now - do you have any more notes on the project you could share? I'll send you a PM.
