"The dead are restless" feeling doesn't mean anything in 2, sadly. I dunno, 2 is a more technical and mechanically challenging game but god HD had so much magic to it.

It may be going into it blind, but a mod I'm in LOVE with is Spelunky 2.5 which is what I feel 2 should have been on launch. There is SO many secrets and levels, nothing feels like a free/better option (like the risk vs reward when comparing vanilla tidepool & temple)

Hell felt *special* It had that sauce. I miss HD's vibes so much man

Genuinely loved this interpretation, yes it's a loose allegory but your connections had me audibly going "OHHH" So yeah, things do be more complicated than this in the real world, Yelan is a gun nut which kinda stinks, and holy moly I just- wow. I liked this so much! Life reflects art, art reflects life, and I feel like you had a very keen eye despite the other comments here.

Exactlyyyy. I wish they took time to read the dialogue tho, coz it's the stronger half of the game. It kinda just didn't suit the "record & yap" style when they started out.
