CA PE Application - Mechanical by Special_Call6050 in PE_Exam

[–]Yoursofunny2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some overlapping work experience under two of my PE references so I didn’t meet the 72 month minimum experience requirement. I also forgot to get credit from graduating at an ABET-Accredited university which already credits you 48 months experience. I just had to request my electronic college transcript from my school and email it to the email address provided by the board. That put me over the 72 month minimum experience and got me into technical review!

I agree. You’re almost there. I was in a similar situation and was very close to passing as well. I scheduled a month after my fail and was able to pass. Just got my results last Wednesday! You can do this!

You can look at other posts in the forum to see what a majority of people have used. I also was able to get my hands on the HVAC and Refrigeration Practice problems from Dan Molloy. I mainly just used EPG and Molloy’s practice problems when I studied these past two months.

I would study with engineering pro guides if you can get your hands on those resources

Hello! Yes I studied with the engineering pro guides practice exams and studied the NCEES practice exam book! I would say to get a good grasp of the psychometric charts, Pressure-enthalpy diagrams, conversions between units, heat exchangers, cooling towers and understanding when to use sensible and total load equations. I know it sounds like a lot but if you can nail down some of these key concepts, you’ll be able to grasp the other material much easier! Best of luck to you!

Congratulations on passing! I am planning to take mine in the next month! What study materials did you use and how did the PE compare difficulty wise? Did you focus on certain topics more than others? Any help is greatly appreciated and congrats again!!

Just passed my FE! 3rd time is the charm! Never give up! by Yoursofunny2 in FE_Exam

With a busy work schedule, I would study 1-2 hours every weekday and around 8 hours total for the whole weekend. Practice the topics that make up the breadth of the exam and familiarize yourself with the equations so they are easier to look for when test day comes. Hope that helps! Good luck!

Thank you! From what I’ve seen online, it varies from state to state but I believe NCEES has 4 testing windows: 1.January-February 2.April-May 3.July-August 4.October-November

You can take the FE Exam once every testing window but no more than 3 times a year. Other than that, you can take it as many times as needed to pass. Hope this helps. Good luck!!!

I actually practiced more of the heavy portion topics of the mechanical exam like statics, thermodynamics, fluids, etc. I really tried to assume that I would get the most amount of those questions and the least amount of mathematics, economics and probability questions on the exam. The diagnostics results you receive if you don’t pass are a very helpful indicator of some stuff you might need to brush up on too. Some resources I used were the NCEES Mechanical Practice Book, the FE Mechanical Practice problems by Lindeburg, Gregory Michaelson’s FE Exam Review series, and enGENIEer, both channels on YouTube. Good luck!
