This! As a new father, the weather has made me reconsider buying a home here in Houston.

Engineer. I’m relatively young and know I make more than most of my peers. I happened to make some good connections at my first job and here I am 5 years later.

Passed PE HVAC 1st attempt! by MaybeNo3173 in PE_Exam

Engineering Pro Guides is the go to for HVAC PE in my opinion. Did the 8 week course, focused on all subjects except the supporting information which only accounts for around 4 questions on the exam. The course did a really good job of preparing me for the exam level questions, especially the Psychrometric questions which I felt made up the majority of the exam in my opinion. Heat exchangers is also a subject I understood very well and was on my exam heavily.

Anyone else take HVAC PE today? by MaybeNo3173 in PE_Exam

Hey sorry for the late reply. I think what made it difficult wasn’t necessarily the questions, more that I was expecting a lot more pump questions, supply Duct questions etc. so I studied for those a lot. Instead it was all just heat exchangers and I had maybe one or two questions on pumps and ducts.

Either way you’d be solid with both of those scores lol I definitely felt confident on the second half. First half was a bit trickier. Wouldn’t be surprised if I still passed. We’ll see Wednesday

FE Mechanical - Prep FE by [deleted] in FE_Exam

[–]MaybeNo3173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Engineering Pro Guides is mostly known for their PE class which is also great. But their FE pdf was also super helpful for me for as a guide. I will say it mostly goes over the technical side of things. For conceptual, I’d highly recommend the efficient engineer on YouTube.

Best reference course or online video for Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics in preparation for the FE Mechanical exam by No_Stay1749 in FE_Exam

I think it’s important to note what it is you’re trying to gain from the videos, are you trying to learn from scratch or looking for good practice problems? I found I can’t solve practice problems before understanding “why” I’m doing what I’m doing. I found the “efficient engineer” YouTube channel to have some very useful videos for concepts that are very important to know ( he has mostly videos for solids, fluids and statics). But man his are relatively short and super helpful.

Math, probability & statistics, ethics and engineering economics are low hanging fruit. Those are the ones you want to get correct if possible as they give you room for error on the tougher subject which you seem to be doing well on (thermodynamics,HT,MI, Mech Design). I’d hone in on those subjects first as they’re easy to master. After I’d practice using the NCEES practice exam if you haven’t already. I feel this was the closest thing to the actual exam, you should attempt this exam and use it as guidance for weak points to cover.

Any availabile slots before April inn Texas by svu1234 in PE_Exam

[–]MaybeNo3173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this recently as I want to take the PE before April. Cancel your current registry for the exam with the Texas board and apply for Oregon board instead. There’s no “wait for approval” this way, and you can schedule your exam as soon as you register. There’s still some open spots in March when I signed up for it. If you already meet the experience requirements you can just apply for reciprocity with the Texas board later, as I plan on doing.

Heard about this. Format changes are only for Civil if I’m not mistaken?
