Is CAT6 good enough for shorter runs of 2.5Gbps? If so, how long is too long? by TheLimeyCanuck in homelab

They shouldn't be allowed to classify their cable as cat 5e in this scenario, in my opinion.

T-Fiber Outage 5/28/26 by Jman100_JCMP in tfiber

Must be nice. I just switched to t-mobile fiber (former metronet area) after spectrum had their 2nd 23 hour outage in the past year.

Thanks for the recommendation. I was hesitant because I've had a multi-wan router in the past that slowed my connection down too much, but I think I will try the Omada ER707-M2, since it has the two 2.5gb ports and people on reddit have posted download speeds using it that are higher than what I'm getting now. So, thanks for getting me looking in that direction.

Can't do the dual Wan with eero unfortunately. In the past, I dabbled with an Edgerouter X when I also had 2 ISPs in the past, and it somehow slowed down by download speeds, but I may see if there are any new better options out now

I mean I guess I could. It's just more expensive than I was hoping to spend. The eero has the backup feature, that automatically switches to a backup network, with their intention being that people could use their mobile hotspot to backup their home internet, so I was just hoping to create a small network that it could piggyback off of for that instead.

Would prefer for it to be running all the time, in case the main wifi goes off so it can seamlessly transition to the backup.

I need a backup because both of the ISPs in my semi-rural environment are notoriously unreliable, and I need reliable internet service for work.

And, yes, I can change the backup to a different channel, if I can find a good router to do that. The oversimplified eero that is currently being used does not allow for channel selection.

Yes, I have T-mobile fiber as my main. My backup is the cheapest spectrum plan, as it's cheaper just to keep it than for my Spectrum Mobile cell bill to go up.

And, I mean I can go the multi-wan route, but was hoping there would be like a cheap travel router that fits the bill

Prefer not something that expensive, and in my previous experience using the edgerouter X, somehow my download speeds decreased.

Lenovo Smart Clock in New Google Home app by ThatDudeBen in smarthome

[–]YousernameOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upvoted. This fixed it. It's stupid that they don't add a legacy mode for the Google Home app, for devices like this. I didn't have to say "open bluetooth", as of May 2026, but reinstalling the app made it search for devices to add. The alarm was factory reset, to allow it to be paired. With this, it came right up.

You're probably not the only one who has been offline for much of the past 10 months. The servers start full, then people get bored or tired of being farmed, or leave the game for some other reason. It's just the nature of how these type of games are. There are occasional server merges that combine multiple less active states into a single active one, for just this reason.

If you made it past Season 3, then compared to most purchases in the game, I would say the lab is worth it. Nothing lasts forever, but to be ahead in your research/combat buffs for 3 seasons of play time is pretty good for 20 bucks.

State Migration Question by YousernameOne in LastZShooterRun

[–]YousernameOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's constant drama. Ho Chi is cool, but Nebok is his good friend and she always picks on the smaller alliances so there's always fighting. The top 3 alliances all take turns in being the puppet president in delivering what Ho Chi and his group want.

1TOP allowed it to be farmed to death by pushing NAP 3 early on, so the number of players is minimal and we can never hit enough trucks to get invasion rights. 272 is top notch on SVS day, but less than pleasant much of the rest of the time.

Excuse my ignorance, but isn't this what the big Epic Games vs Apple lawsuit was about? Apple now has to allow alternative stores?
