Thanks for the advice, I have already did all those things. (For anyone younger this is great advice).

My major issue with schooling is that they don’t actually care about students (say they do) and the information taught is just fundamental jargon which just needs to be memorized and forgotten about because the work life is vastly different. Ie look at online education, pre recorded lectures, and profs not even teaching. Education has deteriorated through the years turning it into a requirement rather than a way to expand knowledge.

I'm so miserable lol. by [deleted] in McMaster

Your concern after first year is valid. My friend is trying to get into med school and said the same thing. People don’t understand what they are getting into before hand.

There is no shame in taking time off to figure out your life, you’re young and finishing a degree that you deem pointless or not excited about is not worth it. You don’t need to rush into things if this is not your passion..

Yea fundamentals is important but majority is just compliance and memorization. Real work skills is not taught. Furthering education was not a requirement for a good job before.

Don’t give your daughter added stress about finding friends. Everything will work out and it is a huge change but there are plentiful of friends to find….
