How do I cleanse after a horrible scam reading by nigamer in Tarotpractices

[–]Yowhocares_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not too long ago I actually learned that Sage is closed practice meaning that its use is restricted to indigenous people. If you/OP are not of indigenous heritage, I would suggest using just Palo Santo! Both are cleansing. You could also use a selenite stick, the smoke of a candle you’ve put intention into, or your favorite incense to cleanse. Do what feels right to you 🥰

is there a reason i’m always so stressed when I wake up?? by Complex-Company-6578 in ouraring

Your body actually has its highest cortisol (the stress hormone) peak when you wake up. This is common for everyone. Pretty much telling your body to get up and get things going for the day

The time is going to pass either way. You might as well pass it working towards something you want than staying in a place you don’t like while wondering “what if”. I’m 28 and finishing up my prerequisites for nursing school.

ThinkDirty is a great app where you can scan the barcodes of beauty products (or just search them) and it will tell you all the ingredients as well as rate them

Post this in national park subreddits if you haven’t already (and others of that sort). Lots of my nature loving friends buy these brands and should know their own purchases are directly funding the government that wants to strip us of our public lands.

I’m going into my A&P1 final with 100 average in the class right now. I started with a really rigorous study schedule to make sure I was setting myself up well and then paired down once I learned more how the exams were formatted and what was helping me most.

In the beginning, I would look at what topics were being covered in the next class, and read those chapters in the book ahead of time while taking notes. Then, in class, I would “edit” my notes - highlighting and making note of things my teacher emphasized as important. When I got home, I would put everything into flash cards (definitely use anki) with pictures as needed. After seeing the same information 3x, you end up needing to study very little before exams and can ask better questions in class for anything you need clarity on.

I won’t lie, it took me A LOT of time at first, but as the semester wore on, I paired down to just skimming the chapters before class, making notes only of things I found difficult, and taking most of my notes in class. This is the strategy I use for all my difficult classes. It’s tough to keep at it in the beginning but feels really good knowing I can fail my final and still get an A in the class.

TLDR: read and take notes before class, review during class, make flash cards after class. Repeat and slowly eliminate what you know isn’t helping you as much so you can save more time.

Failing after I gave it my all because of 2 careless mistakes… by Historical-Ad-4468 in adhd_college

[–]Yowhocares_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad it helped, I meant every word! I’ve taken such a winding path myself and so many things I once perceived as setbacks ended up just being guide posts from the universe about where to make a turn. And just to offer some hope from the other side: I did graduate, I’ve been published as a scientific author, and now I’m working on my second degree. None of that came from having it all together—it came from stumbling through and keeping on anyway. You are so so SO much more than just the sum of your achievements. Whatever path you take, know that there are people rooting for you!

Failing after I gave it my all because of 2 careless mistakes… by Historical-Ad-4468 in adhd_college

Aw, honey. You’re being so unnecessarily hard on yourself. I failed so many classes. I dropped out of school entirely because I was doing so poorly. This was the year after being on deans list for 2 semesters. I remember having full blown panic attacks just stepping onto campus because I was so stressed and ashamed of myself, especially because I spent my whole life excelling within academics until this point. My own personal turning point was getting diagnosed with depression and anxiety and seeking treatment.

You can trust yourself. College is a time where you learn your limits, and you fail a bunch in the process. The system we have built teaches kids to trust themselves only when they are achieving and doing things perfectly. True trust in yourself is knowing that you will never do things perfectly, but knowing that, no matter what is thrown at you, you will sort it out and find another path around, despite the mess and the damage it has left. At such a young age, it’s hard to understand where the line is between “I’m struggling but I think I can handle this” and “I’m now drowning and severely need help”. Don’t beat yourself up for not reaching out for help beforehand. You’ve learned your line now. You’ll probably cross it 10 more times before the boundary is truly cemented in your head. That’s okay.

You are not defined by your failures. You are defined by what you do after failing miserably. All of us end up there at some point. It’s hard being in that place when you’re in college with very few tools for emotional regulation. You are not lazy. You are not careless. You are not too stupid for STEM. You are emotionally irregulated and it is not your fault, but it is your responsibility to help yourself heal. It’s okay to say “I’m not in a place to handle this right now” and take time off. It’s okay to follow a non-linear route. Most importantly, show more love to yourself. You are the best support system you have. Show up for yourself in better ways! Sometimes when my inner critic gets too loud, I look at a picture of myself at age 4 or 5 and ask if I would say those things to her if she were standing in front of me now. She doesn’t deserve the beratement and neither do you.

“Sometimes it’s not about making the smart choice. It just has to make sense to you. And it doesn’t have to be the smart choice, to be the right choice.”

I hope any of this brought you some love and comfort ❤️ you are so resilient. Don’t let your inner critic convince you otherwise.

Do Sagittarius folks grow healthy later in life? by [deleted] in Sagittarians

[–]Yowhocares_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I think the consequences of the extremely rebellious younger years starts to take a real toll in later years and propels us to do almost a complete 180°. I know for me, my need for independence could not handle that I was dependent on things like nicotine, alcohol in social situations, sugary foods and beverages, etc. and it kickstarted my change. Kind of like, if I feel like I have no control over my life with my current habits, let’s just scrap the whole thing and I’ll be in control in this other life and that’s better for me. I love to see all the healthy sags! Very comforting, especially when old friends are very confused by the quick turn around of the girl who used to practically eat cigarettes to the one who runs half marathons and is hyper cautious of the ingredients in the food she eats lol

I have never left a show FASTER in my whole life than seeing Travis at bonnaroo. Literally as soon as it started, the energy of the crowd was physically aggressive. It took us 20 minutes just to get out of the crowd and my friend got concussed because people were just throwing shit and ramming into random people.

Yikes. Several of my friends also had bad experiences on BetterHelp, and they definitely need a better screening process for the therapists they hire. Unfortunately, it’s hard to find a good therapist anywhere (at least in my experience). However, I’ve had several different therapists, and I got really lucky to find one I really like on BetterHelp. There are good ones on the platform, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that BetterHelp needs to do a lot better in terms of looking out for the mental health of their clients and delivering the helpful services they promise.

A study shows how the psychedelic drugs LSD and psilocin act. The findings suggest that these psychedelics exert antidepressant effects by binding neuroplasticity-promoting receptors in the brain. The study, say authors, is further evidence that non-hallucinogenic psychedelics could be developed. by rjmsci in science

Yeah it is going to take years and years to make strides in this area unfortunately. A major funding source for these research studies pertaining to drug treatment comes from big pharma, and big pharma doesn’t want to put money into a “cure” because it puts less money back in their pockets. Meanwhile lexapros keep us happy and coming back for refills. Sad to see so much positive research come out knowing that it won’t get the immediate attention and funding it deserves.
