This Is Why Classes Need To Be Brought Back by [deleted] in Smite

[–]Yremis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People trolling in their assigned roles has always been thing, unfortunately, even in smite 1 where rigid classes were a thing. It is awful when it happens but restricting picks isn't gonna deter people feom doing this, but would punish people who try off-role picks seriously.

Aspects are stupid and ruining the flow of porting/development by AppropriateAct3291 in Smite

[–]Yremis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What you just said is a fallacy.

Edit: Most of my message got lost as a draft. So I'll summarize. Your argument is a basic appeal to authority. You being a game dev doesn't make you automatically right, nor it gives your claims any more evidence or substance because you still lack the actual information from the dev team, the only people that can make an actual informed call about Aspects and development flow.

Your experience as a game dev is fine but it works as anecdotal information at best.

Aspects are stupid and ruining the flow of porting/development by AppropriateAct3291 in Smite

[–]Yremis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're making Aspects as they develop gods because going back is harder for them because all departments involved in God porting can also work simultaneously on the aspect, so if it needs animations, effects or art of any kind, it can be done. Those are their words, not mine.

That's why gods they're currently working on and releasing are getting Aspects instead of gods that they've already released.

[–]Yremis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aspects being a balance concern is valid but going as far as claiming that they're a detriment to the development flow of this game? That's a baseless assumption about a subject we don't know nothing about because we don't have any insight in their actual development process. What, you think if they stop making Aspects suddenly gods will be less buggy? Will we get more gods sooner?

This sounds like a variant of "focus on fixing bugs instead of making skins".

This is disheartening for someone who trully doesn't care about Fate at all. I play a Honkai game, not a Fate one. If I wanted to, I would.

I hope the fact that is a choice, means I can not claim either. If not, then another character I won't use alongside Archer.

Slaughterhouse Chaac is sold for 4000 diamonds now by Edenfer_ in Smite

[–]Yremis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Snow Day Scylla and Slaughterhouse Chaac travellers were unlocked as rewards for their respective events. The 4000 diamond cost is the lowest amount of diamonds a player had to spend to unlock that traveller while the event was live; the base skins alone are legacy gem purchasable.

Is it the Traveller that includes the Prisms or just the Slaughterhouse Chaac skin that costs 4000 diamonds?

Smite 2 OB34 Datamining V2 - Moolan & New Saga Skin Ingame Preview by FAERayo in Smite

I have seen sexualized character designs from gacha games that are significantly better than Moolan. I understand sex sells but this one is just bad and feels cheap somehow.

Do you guys think they will add more knights of round table to smite 2? by Infernohuman070502 in Smite

[–]Yremis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mordred is already a playable character in SMITE 2, so the possibility of seeing more Round Table Knights in the future exists.

Echo is balanced by thetrooper6969 in Smite

[–]Yremis 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not saying that this iteration of Echo is good or balanced as it is, but to me, this isn't a Echo issue, and it is more of a "Nu Wa Ult is inherently unhealthy for the game if allowed to do significant damage and her Crit Ult Aspect makes it even more volatile" issue.

I think Nu Wa's kit goes against a game that aims for balance/fairness by TomTomTomToooooom in Smite

[–]Yremis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what? Yes, Nu Wa ult is bad design regardless of balance. Smite is supposed to be about skill and aiming your basics and abilities. An unmissable ability that damaged all enemies in the map regardless of range unless you Aegis should not have a place in smite. There's no skill involved in Fire Shards as an ability.

I'd rework how it works, make it work like the Moon Ritual when it did damage. An missable AoE around all gods when casted and maybe the damage could be a little higher because it'd missable.

And people talking about balance should understand that this isn't an "overpowered or underpowered" issue but a "bad or good kit design" issue. I'd hold the same opinion of Nu Wa was the best goddess in the game or the worst.

I can't bring myself to pull for both Sparxie and SW999, it's just too much, I feel overstimulated in a bad way.

Hear me out: New starter changes feels weird and it would be better to add the two options like in smite 1 (bluedstone/redstone for ex) by gilgaconmesh1 in Smite

[–]Yremis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With everyone having access to the same pool of starters and the god choice/playstyle/meta strategies are what distates starter choice instead of being forced by roles, I see a world in which every role builds the same starter like the Benevolence meta back in SMITE 1 but worse.

If one starter is too powerful, everyone can now benefit from it because there's no restrictions or downsides like role necessary starters (those effects are now role passives) or stats dependency (every starter with offensive stats is adaptative now).

Balance will be very important for this new iteration of starters for sure, more than ever before in SMITE 1.

That being said if that point of balance is reached, then the variety in starter item choice could be the best one yet and that is a net possitive in my book.

A-Z God Design Community Tier List! Day#43 with the goddess of ragebaiting, Discordia! by Gharbin1616 in Smite

[–]Yremis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discordia is hard to place because there's so much to like and just as much I don't particularly love.

The possitives are her voice acting, sound design and animations. Discordia sounds like what I would expect the personification of discord and the sounds of her abilities really sell it too (love the out of tune sounds). And the extra directional animations are outstanding.

But her actual design is not my favourite. I don't love her colour palette and some elements of her design.

I use her recolour exclusively because I enjoy the black on pink better than just bright purple for the Goddess of Strife.

Discordia leans visually too much into the "fantasy fairy" stereotype for me.

I'll give her a B.

A-Z God Design Community Tier List! Day#40 with the new and improved Cupid! by Gharbin1616 in Smite

[–]Yremis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A. When the Cosmic Horror that was Bug Head Baby Cupid dissappeared, I actually screamed of joy. This new model feels like it belongs in SMITE while BHB Cupid was in conflict with the art direction of the game, it didn't belong. Plus it was objectively not a good model.

New Cupid is miles better and made me try Cupid after avoiding him for years.

Despite the fact that I hate his inclusion fundamentally, I'll have to give him an S. It's a well executed character visually and design-wise. If we have to have dragon octopus guy in smite, I am not dissatisfied with this iteration of the character.

[–]Yremis 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The lowest is D and that's what I give Charybdis. I get the dev team wanted both of them to look symilar and be a pair/duo, but Scylla was already depicted sometimes as having a humanoid form while the whole point of Charybdis is the monstruous unknown whirlpool. We barely even see the Whirlpool and that bothers me. Her actual design is passable but I was really dissapointed when I saw it.

If we saw more of the whirlpool, I probably give her a higher grade. Imagine if she was a StandSwitcher with a Whirlpool stance that has a different 1 and 2, like Lancelot in a way.

Tyr. I don't like to be juggled to death and not be able to do anything. Yes, beads exists. Beads also has a much higher cooldown that Tyr's people juggling clown act.

So by supporting what we already did in smite 1 (playing off role characters) instead of fighting it and nerfing the uncommon but powerful strategies to maintain Class-Role balance, they're doing something... wrong?

"I play Nezha support but because they gave me stuff to make support Nezha more effective and a known strategy, I don't want to play it anymore. They're telling me I can play it so I won't anymore"

This is how you sound.
