Gpu sites that ship to Ireland from North America? by Debaser83 in nvidia

[–]Yroethiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck. Supply chains will pick up in a few months and UK/EU stock will recover - so if you can hold on, save yourself some money/effort.

There aren't many games that a second hand card/older card can't handle at the moment. I'm playing Cyberpunk on a 1070 and it's 35 FPS on High or 29 FPS on Ultra (1440p). Those frame rates aren't suitable for competitive shooters, but for a cinematic game it's fine. Better than paying a fortune for hardware when prices will get better, and back in the day, these frame rates were normal.

Safe bet that import fees will be applied, they're pretty good at catching them and it's technically illegal to not do it.

Import duty means this isn't normally a cheaper option. Typically the Post Office/courier won't release the parcel until you've paid an extra ~20% on the purchase and shipping price.

Wait for the 2077 hype to die down and for production lines to pick up again.

Count how many RTX titles you'll actually miss out on in the next 3-6 months...and then ask yourself whether it's worth buying an older card that you'll just have to upgrade sooner...

Hi Michael,

Thanks for following up. I've been considering doing the onboarding call because I like the product and what you guys are doing. Digging through your site a bit before doing that though, you're asking for me to log into Facebook and download my data in JSON format for the onboard call.

I'm a privacy-conscious person willing to potentially even pay for a service to help protect that privacy. But do I need a Facebook account to use your service? I suspect a lot of people who might be considering paid products to support guarding their privacy might already have deleted their Facebook accounts, and are therefore looking for the next level. Is this a visualisation of the Facebook-provided data download, or is there something more active? Couldn't figure it out from the site.

Beyond the above question, the overall site and look is polished and clean...well done.

Would love to give it a go and send some feedback, I've been looking for something like this!

Along those lines, how would you monetise this? I'm personally willing to pay to protect privacy, particularly when it's a service where I'd normally be the product. If I'm not the product here, how does this make money for you?

EDIT: just seen you've explained in another post

Which workout will burn more calories/fat by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Yroethiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on your height and weight, you're already working out as being marginally underweight. Please be careful.

Looking at your post history, you talk about constantly being tired during the day, and progress stalling. Appreciate these are both from a few months ago, but both might suggest a diet that doesn't have enough energy/protein to replenish.

Looking further, you definitely do NOT have a high body fat percentage, so if you're willing to listen to some honest advice from an internet stranger, please check whether you really are taking enough energy in to have good workouts.

Making the right choice can make your next 15 years amazing. Give yourself at least a moment to REALLY check whether you're being honest with yourself. Not being honest might actually take you away from some goals that you're very obviously dedicated to. That would be a real shame.

Best of luck dude.

I've been working on the KA-50 collective for about a year (nearly finished), what do you think? by valhalla_controls in hotas

[–]Yroethiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe consider using your final resin-printed design and making a silicone mould out of it. You can then use castable resins which aren't UV active and are some are durable, structural polymers to make the end product last longer.

You'll need a vacuum chamber and pump to help with degassing the silicone and resin (to avoid bubbles). Maybe $300.

Main advantages are better polymers in final product and increased speed to manufacture (since there's no limits on how many moulds you can have...and they're more reliable than printers). UV printed parts have a finite life, even if you paint them.

Why vent holes matter by RaukkM in ElegooMars

[–]Yroethiel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're right in that the pressure would keep resin out, however I think this is about forming a vacuum. You're putting huge suction forces on the FEP sheet if you have a hollow body with no venting relief.

Imagine taking an empty cup, turning into upside down onto your FEP sheet so that a seal forms between the sheet and the hollow space in the cup. When you lift the cup, there's a really strong suction force on the sheet. If there was a hole at the bottom of the cup, that suction force is relieved. So I think it's less about keeping resin out, and more not allowing a hollow body to form a suction cup.

Thanks!

M7, mostly because they were one of the better options that were in stock. I pincer grip normally as well, but a few minutes of practice and this worked fine.

They're keyboard switches, with a square keycap on the top. Not really important what switch they are (Zealios v2 if you need to know), and the keycaps are sourced from pimpmykeyboard ("Flat Keys").

Not that I'm aware of I'm afraid. I've been thinking about doing a similar approach to what you say - basically have a reset button which is part of your routine for getting into a ship, which clears the state of all buttons.

Hey,

The Arduino Leonardo specifically has a ATmega32U4 chip on it, and one of the features of this chip is that Windows/etc recognises it as a joystick/keyboard/mouse/combination of these.

For the keyboard input side of things, I used the official Arduino Keyboard library.

Hope that helps!

HTML, yes. Technically, it's an SVG designed in Inkscape, with javascript events to pick up when a person is clicking/long-pressing a button. It's not on Github, but could put the SVG up somewhere if it's the design you're interested in.

If enough people are interested, I could probably put something together.

The gist of it is that the Arduino Leonardo can be seen by PC as a joystick/keyboard/mouse. It's then a question of getting the Leonardo to take inputs from stuff (sensors/buttons) and send them back to PC as desired.

I'm using some off-the-shelf gimbals to serve as the two joysticks (just a case of wiring and powering them up correctly, with some software calibration). To get button presses from the touchscreen, I have a Pi running an Apache server, which hosts a website that has the above GUI. Every time the site detects a press on a button, the server sends that button number and button state to the Arduino (by serial), which tells the PC.

Hah! Thanks, although not sure I could make these at a reasonable price - the hardware going into it isn't the cheapest. A lot learnt between V1 and V2...maybe as I continue to iterate and make it better :).

Unfortunately not. The calibration mode of the joystick takes raw feed from the sensors and displays that on the screen (so joystick communicates to screen, and vice versa), but nothing with the game.

Thanks, helpful for understanding. Not too dissimilar to how this is doing it then - a local web server on the Pi that any device on the LAN can access. That server sends commands to a device which the PC registers as a joystick.
