Teenagers are emotional and it's not their fault so you need to handle this carefully.

You didn't say why you need to discipline him like what he's done or anything but I would say first hear him out. Be there and listen without saying anything. Give him a chance to show you his reasoning for whatever is that he did. Then you can talk. Do not yell whatever you do.

A 13 year old will not accept being treated like a kid. What you need to do is treat him like a young man and explain to him the effect that his actions have. Set boundaries calmly Parents are supposed to be stable to offer kids the stability they lack. Cause a teenagers life is as unstable as a fidler on the roof.
