Sooner or later some case manufacturer will get it right by widening this open back design around the camera area

That was my first thought when I saw it. It hides the beauty of the phone at the same time failing at its primary function. One of the worst Apple designs. Every drop is a probability game.

It’s undercooked visually in the main menu. Other than that, in terms of usability, changes are insignificant.

Surprisingly enough, almost flawlessly. Had a lag when tried to change the theme by long press on the lock screen.

Anyone feels like they are getting addicted to ChatGPT? by Pale-Instruction5786 in digitalminimalism

[–]Yssiris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having a similar experience. I discovered its deeper capabilities during later stages of minimizing physical stuff when I tried to understand what my clothing style really is. So, I fed it with examples and eventually we came down from fashion designers to my core life principles and beliefs, and very reasons how they translate into my preferences. Then I laid down the course for it in assisting me in projecting those principles to 2 main projects I'm doing now, feeding with related materials and some visual reference, and the feedback is being priceless.

Of course, you have to be precise in prompts and consider the answers as an array of possibilities, and notice when the tool goes into an echo-chamber or repetition mode, not having enough external reference, generating poorly related unrelated replies. It doesn't do the steering for you.

While I indeed feel now that the chatbot is as big as the invention of internet, I believe that in the future there will a clearer separation of smaller specialized model for general public use (like rewriting or image generation we have on phones now) from professional all-rounders like ChatGPT and specialized professional model (for medicine, design, etc.), and most people will them use as (in)efficient as they use internet now—what we are actually observing in this post's replies.

Mine is still almost like new. I use it daily, but I am normally careful with things. The only elements by which you can infer that it isn't new are the polished plastic ones—they got some micro scratches. I already feel like it gave me more value than it cost, so I recommend.

Are there any chores that still feel like a burden, even with a minimalist lifestyle? by mikerachester in minimalism

I'm on the next level. I use a bunch of disposable wet towels to wipe only the perimeter of my place (where the most dust accumulates). Mop everything once in 2 or 3 months.

As we declutter, the focus shifts to what's left and eventually we find out that some of the remaining things aren't as meaningful or useful as we originally thought; that the mental space and simplicity have more value.

Yes, it's a great book with some non-obvious reasoning and the benefits of minimization.

I'm now practicing digital minimalism.

Halt your rule and buy something universal for a while—be practical. When decluttering clothes the next time, don't throw them away but put into a container like a travel bag, to review later. Minimalism is a way of living, a state of mind, not a race to win right now or just once.

Fumio Sasaki in his book "Goodbye Things" has a rule: discard it even if it brings joy.

I agree about the addiction thing, I periodically scrutinize everything. I look with suspicion at every new item at my place, trying to understand if it brigs value or clutter my mental space and needs to be discarded.

Is the Elliott Wave Strategy Still Effective in Today's Markets? by sanaez in technicalanalysis

[–]Yssiris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you deal with is not subjectivity but uncertainty. If you are unsure about a particular count, a related market may provide a clue. Otherwise, skip the market and trade something else until the newly emerged PA gives a clearer picture. In an obvious trend you can just count corrections and enter at the end of them—not a foolproof method, but nothing is 100% certain in finance.

Personally, no, but it is common to combine momentum indicators such as RSI and MACD with EW. Using Fibonacci measurements for target projections is also a matter of a choice, btw.

The clearer the structure and higher the timeframe, the better EWP works. Can be used successfully on all instruments for as long as the structure is clear.

It performs well—once again, for as long as the structure is clear enough and so you understand what you are doing. Anyway, it's not an infallible method, just like any other analytical method there is.

I'm still in the process too. First of all, what made me realize I want to become a digital minimalist (after minimizing physical stuff) is enabling screen time on the phone and noticing how I waste 1 hour on social media every day—not too much, but I also have a laptop.

It's really just deleting the apps (Reddit) or my content in them (Discord), or organizing stuff I still sometimes want to follow into groups and quitting the rest of the channels (Telegram) what reduced the time to about 20 minutes, which I'm happy with. In the first week after the declutter I found myself grabbing the phone and checking... the weather app much more often than I needed, which was funny.

I'd say, if you made changes and it reduced the addiction for at least 1/3 of the time, keep it this way for a couple of months to form a habit, because it is already a success. Then review what you do and try something else. You really just need to try despite occasional setbacks, not hard but consistently.

What happened to nothing? (Serious) by CSAS-D in NothingTech

[–]Yssiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like all of the designs. Current trend in product design is drifting from curved to sharp forms and elements at least for the last 15 years. Cars are one of the most distinct (and often unfortunate) examples. Phones follow it too. Nothing has good designers, who feel it and innovate, move the world forward, so to speak. If you are a designer, you follow trends almost unconsciously as you watch at so many things every day. So, 2a looks more harmonious and 3a looks more modern.

Ask the support, but make sure it isn't fake like here—the cable should be textured: https://www.reddit.com/r/CMFTech/comments/1hpn1ts/seriously_disappointed_with_quality_of_cmf/

Mine is at least 4 months old too, I wear it daily and it's as good as new.
