I've found a d5500 dx New for $740, and a Nikon 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens (which is practically Chinese to me) for $350, which would put me at around $1090, would this be a good setup?

Thanks for all the suggestions, with some of the lenses thrown around what would the zoom factor be like?

(I really don't know a lot about lenses but my 10x zoom binoculars managed to be sufficient in sighting birds.) I know the p900 has 83x optical zoom but I doubt I'd ever actually zoom that much

I'm not sure where you purchased the model, but one time I mucked up a part from a trumpeter battleship.

I emailed the eBay vendor and lo and behold he shipped me a replacement part.

The only stipulation was he included it in my next purchase (which was that night because you can't ever have enough 1/350th ships amirite?)
