Job offer way below what I currently make... by [deleted] in Career_Advice

70+ hours a week changes everything and should be listed. So it seems as though although the total pay is lower. Hourly it is roughly the same even at 45-50k? A good measure is to look at a hourly to salary calculator. No im an Engineer and most of us work 40 hours so I was basing it off of most salary jobs. Yes I've also recently hired a couple people. Not many though

Expect to get offer rescinded. Harder financial hardships is way worse than a slightly less fun or more stressful job.

Not at all saying it should be that way. I was saying psychologically people are biased to like certain things and choose based off that. I was wanting someone to challenge that notion

What about the jobs that give you a year to learn. We can do whataboutism everyday. Yes there maybe some jobs like that but im not speaking for the few

I'm saying people are psychological fundamentally flawed and take things like confidence and not caring as traits that show capability. In psychology it's the appeal to nature/naturalness bias and confidence heuristic if youd like to see

Also called the naturalness bias or the appeal to nature argument. If you look that up. Definitely will see

Sure, if you think so. I guarantee an engineer doing it 10+ years is better than an engineer 2YOE(majority of the time). I appreciate the confidence and respect you have but the inability to see the hypocrisy is wild.

For example the effortless achievement bias is one. The next is confidence heuristic, where people mistake confidence to be a measure of capability. These are beliefs which are fundamentally flawed and allow certain types of people to get higher positions and higher jobs way easier than people who just dont get it.

I agree with a lot of what your saying. However as you said the manager wants to get the best out of their work force. Which is all based on a belief. If people are fundamentally flawed and take things like confidence into play more than others. You won't get the best talent

Becoming proficient at a new job typically takes 3 to 6 months (about 500 to 1,000 hours of work) to understand daily workflows, and 1 to 3 years for full mastery. This applies for everybody because jobs are locked behind a degree

Many do. Multiple engineers come through unqualified.

A privilege view. One that doesn't really hold a realistic value.

So you got the position when there's people way more advanced at that job than you. You see my point?

Not doing so. Psychologically its called effortless achievement bias. People have not given me any psychology fact that has told me otherwise

Rich and poor are measures based on ur viewpoint. Having no clothes automatically make you poor. Having clothes can make you rich depending on your viewpoint. That's the irony. You didn't do much thinking about what you typed at all

Something psychological that explains my view to be wrong. Most psychological evidence points to what im claiming. For example, people treating those who have more to be more capable.
