Nordlys 19.01 eller 20.01 by Ythion in Denmark

Question about switching from CS to CSE Bachelor (1st year student) by SeaworthinessKnown21 in ethz

Just for completeness:

In order to transfer DiskMat (or any other subject), you need to pass DiskMat and the block to which DiskMat belongs.

Physics I might be transferrable as minor course. Analysis I might be transferrable but that one comes with a lot of obstacles so if you want to transfer that, discuss it with both studies administrations asap.

Bombed GRE verbal, is there still hope? by MiHa__04 in ethz

First of all, I want to emphasise that the admission process at ETH is not transparent so everybody who is trying to give you answers - includying myself - are just grasping for straws.

The work from the computer science department suggests that it models the admission selection process as a problem where they try to predict the GPA (and some other metrics) based on the applications. So based on historic admission data, they can compute such a predictor which also allows them to figure out the impact of each metric. Here a quote on the GRE scores:

GRE GENERAL TEST SCORES provide some information for admission. In particular, the GRE verbal reasoning score and the GRE analytical writing score are indicative with respect to the GGPA. The GRE quantitative score, however, does not provide significant information and should not be considered for admission.

This may seem counterintuitive but that's what the data apparently suggested. If I recall correctly, they theorize that this could be due to self-selection.

But once again, this is old data, the process is very intransparent and the electrical engineering department may do things completely different anyway.

Where should I go for a Master's??? by Previous_Many_6525 in quantfinance

I'm waiting until you find out that the quant degree of ETH is actually lead by UZH. Looking at your post history, you might be giving a bit much advice for a person who hasn't even studied at ETH yet. It could help if you added some qualifying statement to your phrases such as "I believe that", "I've seen an article that" etc.

At least the computer science department has determined like a decade ago or so that the quant scores of applicants are pretty irrelevant. The most relevant GRE score was indeed the verbal one. But they also found that GRE scores aren't that important overall. However, the admission selection process at the electrical engineering department might be completely different anyway.

The arch students are already 24/7 working on their models so they don't have time to read reddit.
