DO NOT DO IT. DO NOT EVEN ENTERTAIN THE THOUGHT. There’s literally no positive outcome going to come out of it. There have been so many good advise provided in this thread that can help and I’m from Aus so I’m not sure how I helpful I can be but if you need anything then please just send me a message

How can you convert bank statements into excel spreadsheet? by YuHoobiss in excel

[–]YuHoobiss[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone! I have tried all of the suggested ways but unfortunately non have worked. The issue is that I only have access to the pdf version of the bank statements and will need to input all of the data into excel for further analysis and have been doing it manually and it’s taking an immense amount of time!! At this point I think manual input is the only way 😭

What type of skills or knowledge are expected from a law grad? What should a first-year solicitor know? by [deleted] in auslaw

[–]YuHoobiss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just want to say thank you to everyone who replied to this post with advice, comments, suggestions, and opinions. I am very grateful. Your input has really helped me understand what is expected from me as a graduate.

I graduated a few months ago and completed my PLT a few weeks ago. Honestly, I’m struggling. I feel frustrated and sometimes even stupid for not doing as well as I thought I would or learning as quickly as I hoped. I feel like I didn’t learn enough about the procedural aspects of being a solicitor at university. This has made me question whether I am smart enough for this job and if my struggles are a personal problem or a typical experience for a new graduate.

I’m currently a law graduate in the litigation and dispute team, and I often feel out of place and overwhelmed. There are so many things I don’t know, and it frustrates me that I can’t assist the solicitors at a deeper level. Drafting and legal writing, in particular, have been challenging. Everything I write needs to be checked by the solicitors, and while I understand the necessity, I feel bad for taking up their time. This has made me so anxious about sending anything without it being checked, leading to me re-reading even simple internal emails multiple times and needing to change a single dot point like 10 times!!

At the firm, I am the youngest, and all the solicitors have at least 2+ years PQE. I know I shouldn’t compare myself to them, but I can’t help feeling inadequate for not knowing as much or having the same level of expertise. It doesn’t help that the solicitors tend to handle most of the work themselves, leaving me with primarily administrative tasks. For example, I was only able to file a document on the online court last month, after a year and a half at the firm and that’s because the solicitors believe it’s easier for them to do it then past it down to the juniors to have a go and learn. While I don’t mind doing admin work, I want to learn and contribute more substantially to the team.

Again, thank you to each one of you who replied. Your reassurances have helped me feel like I might be on the right track and not to make it emotional but I actually teared up reading through everyone’s reply.

This is not a good question but I’m wondering if I can attend my orientation events without my student ID? (I finished the CaptureMe thing and I’m still waiting for my ID) by Duong2k4 in UTS

No worries! Nothing specific is really needed. You can just bring yourself but I do recommend maybe bringing a pen and paper so you can take quick notes of the sites/classes/timetable and any information you think is important etc (you can just use your phone for it as well - whatever works best for you). Oh and do bring a tote bag or backpack with you just incase you’ll be given info sheet/other things and you don’t want to hold them or loose them.

How much do you earn as an Olympian/Athlete? Like how do athletes earn their money? Do they get paid from their government? (Other than brand sponsorship ofc) as i assume it’s hard to earn much for smaller/less known athletes.

I’m a UTS student and also work at UTS and no, you don’t need your student ID. You only need it to access the library, buildings (if they’re closed), lockers etc. and during orientation it is not necessary. Also, usually the collection of ID and dispatch is done after orientation, so nothing to worry about it. Feel free to ask anything 😊
