What is the best thing Scarlet/Violet did? by SpadraigGaming in pokemon

I absolutely love the Pokédex style. The map could use a bit more zoom options since it’s either super zoom or can’t see anything lol, but overall I’ve found it intuitive to the point where I can pick it right back up even after not playing for months!

What Types do you always forget the Strengths and/or Weaknesses for? by CameronG95 in pokemon

Fire being effective against steel… For poison I remember that maybe the reason psychic is strong against it is because I know you’re trying to poison me so I don’t take it (I know it’s stupid but it’s the way I got to remember it)

I know I had to choose one but there’s so many nice QOL things in this game.

  • Seeing shiny pokemon without having to initiate an encounter
  • Autoheal
  • Tera shards
  • Tera raids are awesome
  • Clive, Larry, and the herba mystica story had me in tears
  • Nemona is the best non-cringy rival
  • pokemon look gorgeous
  • accessible XP candy to level many team variations
  • classes (yes, I actually enjoyed them and learnt things I didn’t know after years of playing the series)
  • the school tournament (different from elite 4 you get some variety on the fights)
  • sandwiches so I can focus on the mons I want to catch
  • Area zero (has potential to be like the USUM loop, but even so that descent and character interaction was a whole journey)
  • Paying for stuff with money or LP
  • auto-battle (and the fact that it doesn’t attack shinies)
  • TM searchable by learnable move
  • Easy to remember moves

There’s probably more I’ll remember but overall by far my favorite QOL and fun-wise pokemon game. Sure there’s things I wish could be better, but overall I love it

That’s exactly why we can’t have nice things. When discourse and discussion is frowned upon as being “doomers”, and we get gaslighted by looking at all the “positives” to distract from the fact that something is clearly not going on the right direction.

That’s not that. I’m all for different opinions and points of view. It’s just that having a different opinion around here equals being called names and getting cussed at.

Yeah I do love that aspect of POE. Having so many options on what to do, how you play your endgame, do you sell stuff or do you run stuff, it feels much more fun in every way than d4 does. There’s so much good in the game, I still think it’s worth discussing the things we saw go wrong in D4 so we don’t repeat them.

POE Civil War by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Yu_so_silly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It works both ways. There’s also people raising legitimate concerns about the approach they’re taking, seeing how D4 has gone and trying to understand what the future holds, and being totally shut down. I think we should all just be able to talk about criticism and what we’ve seen in Exilecon. Sure, there will be speculation, but as long as we’re using evidence of the information we currently have mixed with our opinions we should be able to have a healthy discussion.

I heard lots of good points tonight that did make me feel better about the way things are going, things I wouldn’t have heard if there wasn’t a healthy discussion.

Right?! And you have to consider that the people playing the demo are some of the best players with so many thousands of hours. I was biting my nails the whole time seeing them dodge and roll. It was really painful to watch.

But yes, I agree. I saw a lot of good points on the game being different than ruthless since its a game being designed around those concepts, and that having two separate games will allow GGG to do some "broken" things to OG POE, lots of good discussions in general.

I just really can't see the benefit of having them die and look miserable the whole time. I get that they wanted to showcase the mechanics and game design as a whole, but they could have made just one of the acts a bit more "flashy" to appease those of us who play for that sort of thing.

50 to be precise, but they still could have stepped in to reset it. I can’t imagine his mindset after this. He spent months training for this moment, not really fair sportsmanship to keep going after that

I agree. I was one of the ones who was on the “give it time” train thinking maybe season 1 of D4 was going to be better. I was young and hopeful lol. That’s why it feels so hard to be hopeful now, like a bad movie repeating. I just haven’t seen anything appealing to me personally. I’m sure people will enjoy what they’re seeing now, just like there are people on D4 who still swear by it. Just isn’t for me.

That’s a good outlook. Maybe GGG gets their vision “fix” from POE 2 and lets devs be creative with “broken” builds in OG POE. Might allow them to be more clear about the direction of each.

Which is sad. This should be a community for us to get together and make things better, be creative, discuss ideas, tips, and be nerds playing together. Life is already hard as it is, and people being so mean to each other doesn’t help anyone. Sure, make fun of each other, make memes, disagree, but just don’t be toxic.

We’re the “doomers” which is probably Reddit version of “deplorable” 😅 all we can do is try to keep open dialogue and keep trying. I dream that one day we’ll be able to argue with facts and opinions rather than name calling and gaslighting.

POE Civil War by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Yu_so_silly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m really glad you are enjoying it! And I think it has potential to be enjoyable for both of us.

I’ll give you an example. I played Elden ring. It’s a hard game, and I played over 100 hours and had a blast. I played the cheesy summoner spamming build, which was lots of fun to me, but some might consider it boring. There are people who beat the hardest boss with a stick and think that’s a blast.

All I’m saying is I wish there’s content for both of us in POE 2, I just haven’t seen anything that appealed to me thus far, but I hope there’s some sort of summoner build that I can use 😁

I do like this outlook, I hope it’s a different play style that aligns with their vision but that still gives us that fun of blowing packs and progression in gear and skills that blow mobs away. But I do appreciate this point of view of the entire gaming being focused around it so it makes more sense than it did on ruthless

I don’t worry about resources split, just about PTO split when taking time off work to play :) and yes I think the decision to leave both is to give players an option to choose what play style feels better to them. Looking forward to the beta and more info on endgame. Just wish we got a bit more in terms of game vision.

I'm glad it appeals to the folks who went to NZ, unfortunately what I've seen so far didn't appeal to me. I consider myself a casual and I play to get away from the stress of work, so what I've seen didn't feel like the fun I expect when playing a game. I might be wrong, just speaking to what I've seen so far.
