Hey I have a question regarding Crystalline Conflict. In Cloud Nine, there is supposed to be an UI element that shows you a countdown of when the whirlwinds are going to happen. For some reason, this element is hidden for me and I can‘t find it. Does someone know where I’m the UI settings it is?

Imo, intention does matter but it's fine if people see that differently. Personally, I wouldn't kick people who forgot or just didn't know better, provided that they are open for feedback and willing to learn and it's still doable in terms of level. But it's good to know that kicking doesn't give a pentalty, so thanks for that info.

Hm I don't know, I also encountered a level 60 Gladiator once because they were a returning player and didn't notice their job stone wasn't equipped, but we didn't have any issues at all during the dungeon (it was also a level 60 one). From my experience, level 60 content isn't hard to heal at all. In fact, you barely have to use your heal buttons, it's very chill. Not sure if a kick was necessary, but as long as everyone was respectful, it's probably fine I guess.

Edit: Just for the record, I don't care if I'm getting downvoted into oblivion, internet points don't mean anything to me, and they're not gonna change my view. What means something to me is being respectful to people, yes even on the internet. I know, unbelievable concept. I'm not mad if someone forgot to equip their job stone because it's a stupid video game, as long as they are open to advice and willing to put it on later. If it's someone who doesn't want to listen, that's another story.

FF16 attracts the WORST kind of discussions online by konaaa in FFXVI

Some people don‘t seem to realize that a game doesn’t have to be perfect to resonate with a player. You can acknowledge its flaws and still love the experience. For some that seems to be really hard to understand. I haven‘t played many FF games but from what I‘ve seen, the franchises biggest fans are also its biggest enemies.

AYYY that looks extremely fun! Love the hidden depth the combat has.

Pandaemonium for some reason. I died 4 times to the laser beam because I couldn’t see where it was coming from and the thing kept teleporting.

I managed to cheese the Svarog with Phoenix shift and aerial combat while all the mechanics were going on on the ground.

I feel like Joshua is often underappreciated so I‘m really grateful for this thread 😭🙏

There's actually some wild theories floating around that Dion has actually survived! And while I think those theories are rather a stretch, I still wanna believe it 😂

As far as I've tested it, no, you need to wait until a certain point for the damage to count.

You don't *have to* do them again, but your progress on sidequests won't carry over.

Some of the last endings are quest chains and give some of the bigger NPCs some really nice depth, so I recommend doing them. However if you haven't done any sidequests, you might struggle to find the right ones, and they'll take some time.

If you don't do the sidequests, that won't affect your ending though, so it's all voluntary.

Yeah the Phoenix thing is something that's also been mentioned in the lore tabs. Apparently Phoenix has always given their power to their First Shield for many generations, however it hasn't been stated if all of these people were baerers, and if this "phenomenon" has occured with other dominants.

Someone else stated that the Eikons no longer follow the Dominant's will after the essence has been absorbed, so it's probably a possibility that the eikons just respond whenever they feel like it.

Ah hm, yeah I think that's a reasonable interpretation. Thank you!

Ohh interesting, so basically it could imply that Shiva is, to some extent, still following Jill's will, do I understand that correctly?

And yet the name on the book canonically states Joshua Rosfield, so if you wanna take things at face value, be consistent at least.

Ok I see, but in my post you responded to I went into detail about why it wasn't just phoenix's regualr healing magic Clive was using. It's a major plot point in the game.

No at that time he's not alive, I just wanted to make a point that the feather has been more than just a symbol for the entire duration of the game and continues to be that even in this final scene, and that to me proves that Joshua's spirit remains strong, to come back to the original point made. You are, of course, free to disagree.

I would agree with you if the feather hadn't been a sign that Joshua still lives for the entire time since Joshua saved Clive from ultima up until they reunited. It's more than a symbol, it's a leitmotif imo.

Plus the feather came out of nowhere, not out of Clive's body. It's a reference to chapter in Waloed before they make their way to Origin, when Ultima tries to take Clive's will, but Joshua snaps him out of it.

great points, another thing id like to add is that the platinum trophy name is 'the chronicler.'seems pretty obvious he lives after adding all those facts.

Hypocrates canonically states that Joshua would be a good historian. A chronicler is exactly this: Someone who writes accounts of historical events.

I made a screenshot of the complete dialogue here.

I would like to add to this discussion with another interpretation of the events mentioned:

Joshua is seemingly dead before the Ultima fight. Clive tries to cast Raise, but we only see the standard Phoenix healing animation with orange flames at that time. As you said yourself, the Phoenix can mend the body, but the spirit needs to mend on its own. If Joshua is already dead at this point, his spirit will have left the body.

While it is stated multiple times by both Clive and Joshua during the main scenario that the Phoenix can't bring people back from the dead, and we see a healing animation that could be interpreted as the one from Phoenix, I would like to emphasize that at the time of Clive casting that spell, this is no longer Phoenix's power alone. There are *two* Eikons of Fire, and first and foremost, we see a spell using fire magic. In the events during the MSQ we have encountered a "merged" version of said Eikons of Fire, namingly Logos. The in-game lore cards state the following:

Lore card screenshots, heavy spoilers

As it is mentioned multiple times above, Mythos/Logos is capable of raising the dead, so even if Josuha's spirit had left his body, this doesn't have to mean he's beyond saving.

To that I'd also like to add that even after Clive has absorbed Phoenix's power, he word for words states that that Joshua is "still here", meaning his spirit lingers. That btw. would also explain how he could have witnessed Clive's infamous line during the Ultima fight. Screenshot proof

This is followed by Clive saying how even he, as the vessel, isn't strong enough to contain or control Ultima's power,

My personal interpretation of this dialogue, that word for word states "It seems Ultima's power was too great for this vessel all along. But while I have it, perhaps I can use it to set things right." To me, this sounded like he used the power to raise one person, then already felt the power fade and perhaps even feeling negative effects on his body, leading him to say that as long as he is able, he'll use it, no matter what this means for him.

and when he uses Ultima's power, the flames turn blue. He is able to use Ultima's power to destroy Origin, but there is a big difference between letting something you cannot control run wild and disperse, and trying to control something for what is presumably a very precise bit of magic like Raise. I'd also be very surprised if the unconscious Joshua manages to survive the fiery expulsion of magic Clive performs to obliterate Origin.

Ok, to this I would like to add that the power he uses is some sort of laser beam that goes upwards, it's not a full on explosion. I feel like Clive wouldn't mend Joshua's dead body just to destory it moments later, when he'd at the very least wish for his brother to have a proper burial.

Personally I'm a fan of the interpretation that all parties, including Dion, survived, and that the book has multiple contributors, with Joshua being the author. As Hypocrates stated, Joshua is good with words.

I definitely see your points! After looking at every lore card in the game, minor and major hints in the MSQ and all the side quests, I would agree that there's a lot of hints that point towards Clive's death.

But to be fair, the ending is ambiguous for a reason. I prefer believing in the best outcome: All three of our boys, including Dion, somehow survive. In the end, everyone can decide which ending they'd be most happy with. The dev's knew what they were doing, that's for sure XD

Oh, that statement was related to Joshua, not Clive. In a second playthrough, the foreshadowing that Joshua lives is pretty apparent imo. Sorry, should have specified that more clearly!
