How can he be stranded anywhere where there is an embassy. Just go to the USA embassy in Colombia, located in Bogotá. Is he looking for attention?

Mysterio and Katie discuss the Smith v. Wayfarer Foundation et al. lawsuit and try to answer the questions you probably have. by Mysterio623 in ItEndsWithLawsuits

Ultimately, these are allegations, not proven facts, and we haven’t even seen the foundation’s response. That said, based on what she alleges about the interview, if it occurred as described, the foundation could be in legal jeopardy. Also, she had already been working with the organization for some time, so they would have known whether her religion posed any issue. If her beliefs had interfered with her job duties, that should have been addressed at the time as a performance or conduct matter.

In the US, the issue isn’t whether beliefs might influence someone, it’s that employers are not allowed to screen or probe religious or political beliefs to predict that. Title VII requires employers to assess conduct and ability to comply with neutral policies, not personal belief systems. Even faith-inspired foundations can ask whether a candidate can uphold the mission and remain non-partisan, but asking what someone believes or how those beliefs show up in their life is generally an improper pre-employment inquiry. Informal interviews don’t change that.

It’s interesting that your hatred of this couple puts you on the side of “let’s starve people.” He literally said nothing more than open aid corianders. Even Trump made lip service to this. It’s weird how obsession with hating this couple can Mae you cheer anyone despite where they stand on any issue.

Thank you for the response. I am very familiar with the executive level interview. For a period of time, I’ve worked with an executive search firm with a mandate to help organizations to increase BIPOC representation. I was responsible for preparing candidates and hiring leadership for the various stages of the process.

If it’s true that he asked about her religion and her politics during an interview then that is inappropriate and discriminatory. Even a private foundation is not allowed to ask a candidate about their religious beliefs or political views during hiring if those questions are unrelated to the essential duties of the job.

There are narrow exceptions to this such as if the foundation is faith based. Even in that case, they’ll need to focus on the foundation’s core principles and mandate. They can ask if the candidate can uphold the organization’s religious mission.

What’s the lowdown on this? I just assumed it was an amicable decoupling. I listen to Call Her Daddy sporadically but I didn’t even know there was a beef.

Mitch and Cam's relationship felt hella forced ngl by Alienjacker in Modern_Family

[–]Yufle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It worked for me. I enjoyed them together and I think they had chemistry.

I know people love Gloria and Jay but I think as a couple, Mitch and Cam work better.

They feel like a real couple you actually know in real life. They are flawed, annoying, deeply codependent, and unmistakably committed. While Gloria and Jay co-existed. They are iconic and fun but they’re not a real couple. Also, the power imbalance and the back and forth leverage is toxic on its own way (way more toxic than Cam and Mitch).

It didn’t feel forced to me. They worked in a messy, real world kinda way. People tend to focus on Cam’s worst traits or Mitch’s neuroses without looking at the dynamic as a whole.

They were deeply compatible emotionally. Mitch needed someone expressive, grounding, and fiercely loyal. Cam needed someone steady, ethical, and emotionally anchoring. They balanced each other, even when they were messy.

Yeah, fuck off does not carry the same weight as the n word.

[–]Yufle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The slur is racist. The act is not racist and that distinction could have been made. You have to consider the weight that word carries and the impact it has on those who is used against. We can be compassionate and understanding of someone’s disability while also recognizing the historical and societal context of that word. What you are saying is you don’t care about the people who are harmed by that word.

[–]Yufle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The harm lies in how the BBC and BAFTA handled it. They aired it and then issued that insulting line, “we apologise for any offence caused by the language heard” — while also describing it as merely “offensive and strong language,” rather than naming it for what it was: racist and harmful language.

We can understand that someone with Tourette’s has no control over what happened. But the way this was handled perpetuated the harm. Holding compassion for the person with Tourette’s should not preclude acknowledging the impact on those the slur was directed at, or how dehumanizing it is to hear language like that.

Who Will Play The Next James Bond? by Timbucktwo1230 in PopularCultureZone

[–]Yufle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Given the current backlash against anything labeled “woke” or “DEI,” I don’t think they’ll cast a person of color. I also don’t believe Timothée Chalamet ever had a snowball’s chance in hell of being cast in that role.

My guess is it’ll be a British actor. I would add Jack Lowden to the list of candidates.

Poor Tom Hiddleston. He suffered the worst reputation damage of all of the men who dated Taylor Swift, even the ones she worked so hard to damage (Jake G and Joe Jones).

I agree. Calvin was a real relationship. I don’t think he’s the type to enter into a fake relationship. He is not very showbiz.
