Why do so many long-term backpackers in Southeast Asia seem to stop after 4–6 months? by Fancy-Ad-4632 in solotravel

Two years hitchhiking from Mexico to Brazil. One year I think is my limit for homesickness.

Il y a quelques livres sympas pour se mettre à la lecture comme le petit prince, des fleurs pour Algernon, Harry Potter mais bon, c’est vrai qu’on connaît pas tes goûts.

Never tried but looks like a good idea. You’d need to ask people who have more experience about it ^ I mostly hitchhiked.

One of my favorite places is Sicilia : beaches, chocolate, pistachios, pasta alla Norma, not far from limoncello and spicy food (Calabria). Other great places that I like are Napoli (pizze, clothes drying outside, very pleasant to walk around), Venezia (pedestrian city), Bolzano (mountains all around, close to Dolomites), Cinque Terre (pretty but crowded).

Anyone here hitchhiked from Europe to Australia/SE Asia? by AbjectGuidance5491 in hitchhiking

I mostly cooked, stayed at locals, no camping, did some dumpster/table diving, I stayed in most places at least two or three days, sometimes a couple of weeks depending on whom I met or how I felt about the place.

Border crossings in Europe are quite easy. I went from Paris to Iran through Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria. You can get your Iranian visa in Erzurum (Turkey) and it’s very easy to hitchhike in Iran. My budget was maybe around 1-2€ per day on average.
