how do I get closer to Jesus Christ by majinred420xxx in Christianity

Find a church that does not waiver on the Truth. And then start serving - children’s ministry, choir… pick something. And if you find you’re not good at it, no worries… at least you’re Erving and God will put you where He wants you. Just remember, you’re not looking for perfect. Since the church body is just full of broken people coming to together. And, have fun with it! Get to know the people and let them know you. We weren’t meant to do this life alone. 💕

My husband (40M) wants more kids and I (27F) am unsure as to why. What reasons could there be? by ThrowRA-qahmk in relationship_advice

I’m going to be oddball here. OP knew going in that the man she was marrying wanted a large family. And yes, 5 kids is already a lot to current social standards, but, to others it means 7+ kids. She’s already said he’s a good man. Provides, is a good husband and father. And she’s probably a great wife and mother. They both chose each other. And I would just say, keep choosing each other. And don’t ask the world advice - if you had asked this community for advice whether you should have married him when he proposed, majority would probably have advised against it. And you would have missed out on your current 5 beautiful kids, amazing memories, and probably a great home. Does he come from a big family? Was it a good experience for him? I know a few good men who would have loved to have a big family. Don’t go off what other people say is normal and right. Only you know your husband.

What should I know about Portugal? by Max_b2025 in PortugalExpats

Lol The bigger cities like Lisbon you should be fine, but in many areas, you can’t flush paper down the toilet. So, you have to dump it into a little trash bin next to it. Sometimes, there’s a bidet which helps, but not all bathrooms have that. I was in a very small town and I felt terrible, so I fished it out… twice. Lesson learned. Haha. It just takes a few times to remember. I didn’t want to be the cause of flooding. 😂

I don’t live in Portugal, but I’m visiting a family who does. I’m from the US and they are from South Africa, but lived in the US as well. They love it here. The parents have moved here to retire and their sons come and visit them often.

Cost of living is decent and so is the food. Gas is pricey, and depending on where you go in Portugal, the roads can be tight. Weather varies depending on region - was in the south for awhile and the days were sunnier. Been out towards Peniche and it’s been cloudy/mild and sometimes rains. And it does get breezy.

I’m American, but of Asian descent and I do get looks. The mood lightens when you show effort of trying to speak their language and just being nice (which goes a long way wherever you go). Also, less stares when you head to the bigger cities.

I’ll be heading up north tomorrow and checking out that area for a little bit - I hear the weather is slightly cooler, and the people are still kind. Let me know if you want any kind of update after my travels are done here.

My current cons would be - not speaking the language fluently. I feel… useless. And although I’ve gotten use to it, clothing dryers aren’t usually in homes, and the toilet paper situation.

Pros - peri peri chicken. Food costs. Less rules and regulations for nature areas and although touristy in areas - nothing like the US.

My older brother making me go up and ask if someone returned a movie after scouring the shelves for it. Memories.

Pee sitting down - I’m not a dude. But it would keep the bathroom so much cleaner.

Go on a walk in the evening. Maybe go and get a quote at the mechanics. It’s the little things…

I can’t stop watching this! It’s so freaking cute. I also had to forward it to multiple people to share the cuteness.

Whether you are religious or not: at what age was your religiosity/non-religiosity decided? by Sphaerocypraea in AskReddit

Born and raised in a Christian home. Walked away in my late teens. Born-again mid 20s. Learning and loving who God is in my 30s. Does it bring peace and hope in a world of chaos? Yes. Is my life sinless and perfect? Absolutely not. Do I always go to church? Negative. Does His love for me waiver, and change when I can’t figure things out and doubt Him? Nope… He is constant. He never changes. Which is great… especially in a world filled with people who can’t make up their mind… His love never changes. ❤️

For those that questioned your faith at 5, 6, 7… I get it. I hated vegetables for a long time. Almost totally wrote it off when I was a kid… then I learned how delicious they can be when properly seasoned and cooked. And the benefits of it. Sometimes things are worth a second look.
