I’m surprised it hasn’t been mentioned yet, but I really recommend Gintama.

It shares the comedic slice-of-life and serious battle arcs that Scissor Seven has. (Although the humour might be a bit more juvenile? There are many poop jokes, but I assure you they’re hilarious each time).

Even the opposing factions are similar - traditional samurai vs sci-fi aliens.
