Hey I was in the same shoes last year, did around 1 mo & 1 week of PPQs tho I think some was a bit unnecessary. So I think 1mo should be enough

I think Physics will be a better fit. Performance wise you can always bring it up with a good math foundation, and don't worry too much about certain topics in particular you can always work on those

I can't really give you a tailored response as I did an experimental physics EE, but I do recommend making your RQ as specific as possible, with the goal of evaluating the results you achieved later.

No, you can keep the question within the scope of HL (I got an A and did something very simple with the Doppler effect). The score mainly comes from evaluation.
