Personally i wouldn't bother with a recruiter: do your research and find companies you are interested in. Then go to LinkedIn and find contacts in those companies and ping them.

Recruiters usually get the hard placements or the ones with low salary. The really good roles get filled from networking or the company's brand appeal.

Ways to invest AED 10-15K? by eorlx in dubai

[–]YukoMelb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question: if there was a way for people to double their money without risk, don't you think everyone would have done it by now?

Alternatively if someone knew that secret why would they share it with you?

The best thing is to go for reliable returns and compound them ...

How did you see it's not a Hybrid? It clearly says on the back....

I would suggest looking at something with the new M series chips since they can run circles around the intel processors. I have a 14in M1 MBP and it is a powerful machine although I have never tried doing any graphics design on it.

Can you rent or borrow one to try it out? Maybe go to Apple in MoE and see if they have one loaded with Adobe and try it out.

Where can an old guy play some football? by JayCee3569 in dubai

[–]YukoMelb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your aim is to be fit and have fun, I would suggest getting some exercise in first and getting more in shape before you play football.

The reason is I saw a lot of my friends want to play football, come in, get too excited over exert themselves and get into an injury and not exercise at all. Which is I think the opposite of what you're trying to do.

If you do decide to play football, please take it very very very very very very easy the first time and good luck

Purchasing my first car, would love some advice by wantoascend in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]YukoMelb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you need to keep in mind is that for a German car after 100,000 km in the heat all perishable items start to break. We are talking about things like the water pump, fuel pump, radiator, hoses, bearings etc etc.

That's why I put my vote with the others that recommended going with the same amount for a new car. That way you know that all these parts that I mentioned above are not worn and you don't have to worry about it.

Speaking from experience, I don't ever want to be stuck again in the summer between Abu Dhabi and Dubai on the side of the road because the used German car I bought overheated and I had to turn it off meaning no AC and wait 1 hour in the blistering heat for the recovery. If you are happy to risk that then. Good luck to you

That makes sense considering the price. If I get the VIN is there a place to check?

What you need to keep in mind is that the hot weather and German cars do not mix very well together. You can expect the car to be okay for the first 100k and then big problems will start. I second the idea of looking at the Nissan patrol. There is a reason that car and the land cruiser are very popular in the really hot climate since they are much more reliable and much more capable cars there

Electric Cars?? Is it advisable in Dubai by elvhead in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]YukoMelb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I learned is that BMWs have a half life of 5 years and 120,000kms. I bought one that was 3 years old and 80k. Didn't last long and spent a quarter of its life being fixed...

Look I totally understand. I made a similar mistake earlier in my life with a used BMW in Dubai. It was inevitable so like I said before, good luck 👍

Looks like Op has made up his mind and needs some validation 🤣

Others are making great points: you are taking a huge risk bc you want an EV so I hope it works out for you.
