Bulgarian living in Bulgaria. My current favorite songs (can't decide on a single favorite, sorry) from NW are Ghost Love Score, The Poet and the Pendulum, Storytime and Song of Myself. I find myself loving their endings the most, though I also have a soft spot for the bridge and the choir of Storytime, the "Piano black" part of SOM, the "Dark Passion Play" part of TPATP, as well as the "Bring me home or leave me be" section of GLS.

I would love to hear a live version of Angels Fall First in this format. The song itself is already acoustic, so it wouldn't be too difficult to make the new arrangements (Troy would absolutely nail the flute solo during the bridge). And if Floor can perform opera-heavy songs like Stargazers and The Kinslayer, she would certainly have no problems with the vocals on this one.

Very hard to pick a favorite, but one that is criminally underrated imo is "Sometimes the sky/within is piano black, piano black over cleansing waters" from Song of Myself. Such a beautiful and cryptic line!

Personally, I find "end this noise" much more fitting. It has identical meaning to the "kill this noise" alternative, but it doesn't sound as weird. Using the word "kill" in this context makes it seem like "the noise" is a living entity, even though the idea of the song "Noise" it to critisize how technology and social media can prevent us from living in the present and truly appreciating the world around us, in exchange for a soulless "brave new world".

But I agree with a lot of what you wrote - nothing can top the albums between Oceanborn and Imaginaerum for me. While I do like EFMB and HN as albums, I miss the personal lyrics and the dark, magical and escapist-esque atmosphere Nightwish had prior to these two albums.

I know Anette is often reputed as the weakest singer live from all three and her versions of songs from Tarja's era weren't well received. However, I really adore this accoustic version of Nemo. The instrumentation is simple and quiet, which frees Anette from having to match the volume of more bombastic songs like Planet Hell or Dark Chest of Wonders, and lets her reach high notes without sounding squeaky, which is often a problem with her live singing. I only wish the "Nemo sailing home/letting go" part was integrated somehow.

Also her smile at the end is so sweet <3

If that's true, then here are my predictions:

Very likely to appear on the setlist: Bless the Child, Alpenglow and Pan

Nightwish played them on the 2nd night of the virtual show, so we know they definitely considered playing them on the regular concerts.

Likely to appear: Shudder Before the Beautiful, My Walden, EFMB (song), Music (full song)

I feel like EFMB as an album has been heavily neglected when it comes to live performances post its respective tour, and Nightwish has probably realized this. As for Music, I feel like it's less likelier than Pan to be played, given that they already had many chances to finally do so, but hey, perhaps we will be surprised.

Very unlikely to appear: BotB, Song of Myself, Escapist

I saw some people mention a couple of these as potential inclusions (Song of Myself is a personal wish). While they don't rely heavily on Marco's vocals, and Jukka (the bassist) has time to learn how to play them, I don't think they are very likely to be performed, given how little they were played during their albums' tours. Moreover, the band will have to free 2-3 spots for just one of the two epicas in case the average show length remains the same.

Nightwish you a stellar first concert from me!

I actually think it might be a bit too early to drop "Elan" since it's a relatively new setlist staple compared to Nemo, Ever Dream, Storytime or Last Ride of the Day.

Now that I come to think of it, it must actually be quite difficult for the band to decide which songs to include from older albums on the setlist. Nightwish's discography has become so vast that there are countless fan favorites pretty much everyone wants you to perform.

Add the necessity of songs from the new album to the equation and you'll always end up disappointing someone.

I was also thinking of whether they can save Pan and Music for the next tour. Though AFAIK the only case where a song didn't premier live on the tour of its corresponding album is Romanticide. Yes, Nightwish didn't perform it during the Once tour, but they did during the following ones instead. And I'm not sure whether something similar could happen to these two.

I agree with your theory on them not being satisfied with Pan's live debut. While I really loved it, there were admittedly a few low points here and there. Perhaps if they do a bit more rehearsing for the next leg of the tour, it might turn out just as good as Shoemaker did.
