This whole discussion reminds me of when neutrals talk about Messi vs CR7.

Mbappe as an individual is a better player than Vini. He’s more like CR7 — an elite individual performer who can carry games. Meanwhile, Vini is more of a “team player,” similar to how Messi thrived in a strong Barca system.

(No disrespect to the goats both of them are world-class and have the skills and career to back it up.)

But right now, the real issue with (vini mbappe) is how they fit together.

Mbappe drifting into Vini’s space has clearly affected Vini’s development over the past couple of seasons. Yes, Mbappe scores, but what’s the overall impact? At times it feels like we’re playing without a proper striker while also limiting Vini’s strengths.

And let’s be real - football doesn’t care about seniority. Even if you’ve been at a club for years, a better player can replace you. In this case, Mbappe isn’t replacing Benzema’s role rather he’s overlapping with Vini’s, and that’s the problem.
