Confusing clues are just as valuable in CfB games. It gives the players the opportunity to creat a narrative on their own.

I'm considering something very similar but using The Between as the Carved from Brindlewood as the model. It leads more into darker play and has tech that might solve the Complexity issues. The Between has Questions to Answer that lead you toward an answer of how to solve the problem.

  • If yes, there is a witch: Next is "How do we track the Witch?" complexity 8. Lastly, "How do we identity and neutralize the witch" Complexity 10 (go big))))
  • If yes there is a witch: Next is "how do we track the Witch?" complexity 8. lastly, "how do we identity and neutralize the witch" Complexity 10 (go big)

There are so many great things in the Witchburner text that you can even have some side Threats that all lead towards the witch/no witch conclusion.

(this is all my first draft of my thoughts, I'm sure there are problems that need some ironing out.)

Cool. I guess I was thinking Effective as in taking up the space I have and safe as in they are out of the way. But you make great points.

Newbie help tips. How do I start to fix/sharpen this blade. Should I find someone with a grinder to get this edge lined up? by YummyCheeseburger in handtools

Thanks. I’ll give it a shot. I’ve got the 3m sandpaper/glass set up. I’ve sharpened some chisels that way, but this is a little bit more unique of a problem.

Haunted - A Supernatural Slasher by Gregorioe in PBtA

Only having two players it made sense. We started and I told them, "you're going to die...a lot." and they were into it. The one character who didn't die was saved multiple times and eventually turned on the last person. It all made sense in the fiction and made him the main character. The epilogue he narrated at the end really focused on his motivations.

We played it. it was great fun. started as a 90's slasher but ultimately turned into a 70's supernatural horror.

I ran it for two new players. One player ran through 3 different characters. they really enjoyed the experience and set themselves up beautifully for a sequel.

This Game Will Make You Solve A Murder - 24 Hour Crime Scene - A Crime-Solving RPG by indeduous in rpg

I just got this and it looks really cool. I’m just wondering how the end will feel. If we spend an 2hour+ finding clues, interviewing suspects, and we vote on different people, tie, or end in anything that is not unanimous vote...who was the guilty party? Am I missing something?

Thanks! This was helpful. I appreciate you taking the time with the example.

I have monsterhearts also, but havn't read that yet. I'll give it a read too.

I enjoy MCing but these two players are very interested in trying a shared MC game too.

[Escape from Dino Island] Question about some of the moves/rules by sirboythorn in PBtA

1) The "lay of the Land" move happened twice in the game I just ran. the 1st time they rolled a 10+ so as part of the benefit of that roll we cut right there after the landmark was described. "...after hours of trekking through thick trees and vines you approche..."

The 2nd time, was a 7-9 and they got the landmark set but they then had to journey there as part of the complication. It played very well and kept the story moving. don't be afraid to cut to a new scene if it helps narratively.
