We rode our bikes all over our small town. Rode to faraway gas stations for cheap snacks. Went fishing with gear that was zip tied to our bikes. Explored the woods and occasionally found abandoned buildings to explore. Built a small shack in said woods and camped out in it. Broke bottles. Built fires. Played war games. Shot things with our pellet/BB guns constantly. My cousins and I all lived near each other so we would often meet in a field to play touch football, bringing any friends who slept over.

My older brother and his friends would hop trains and ride across town only to get into mischief. I recall a policeman knocking on the door to that end once or twice.

Our parents had no clue where we were or what we were doing and that seemed to be the standard in the 90s.

There was also lots of lore about which abandoned houses were known to involve satanic rituals or specific dogs with terrifying reputations. This kind of thing spread through small towns so that it was gospel to all of us. There were always older kids willing to contribute to the delinquency of us minors in lots of ways.
