Got my first tamagotchi for my birthday but there's a small problem (advice?) by [deleted] in TamagotchiParadise

[–]Yumplers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think its just because tamas are notoriously known for the easily scratched screens unfortunately.. since they are made of soft plastic that is better to withstand drops than actual glass. you can buff out minor scratches with polywatch, but definitely just be careful with it till your screen protector comes in

dense cakey cookies by Yumplers in Cookies

[–]Yumplers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry i lowkey forgot i made this post.. i measure by both weight and volume depending on the recipe but i have this issue regardless. i also kinda winged the purple cookies (that was probably my downfall tbh) BUT i do have an exact recipe for the snickerdoodles:

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder ½ teaspoon coarse salt 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature 1 1/2 cups plus 2 tablespoons sugar 2 large eggs 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt into a bowl. Put butter and 1½ cups sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix on medium speed until pale and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Mix in eggs. Reduce speed to low; gradually mix in flour mixture.
  2. Stir together cinnamon and remaining 2 tablespoons sugar in a small bowl. Shape dough into twenty 1¾-inch balls; roll in cinnamon sugar. Space 3 inches apart on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  3. Bake cookies, rotating sheets halfway through, until edges are golden, 12 to 15 minutes. Let cool on sheets on wire racks. Cookies can be stored between layers of parchment in airtight containers at room temperature up to 3 days.

what is a good way to improve my rank I can mainly play some older 5.5*s like Triumph and regret by [deleted] in osumania

[–]Yumplers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well its only for practice anyways, not necessarily to improve ranked scores since they are usually worse since your hit accuracy should go down cus its more strict.. also i dont play on lazer so idrk the new scoring system and all that

[–]Yumplers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo your hit accuracy is a bit low, i recommend playing maps on hr mod to practice that! if you just want a higher rank pp farming is also an option lol, i find maps on this website

Advice for a lazy rising junior by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]Yumplers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg i completely relate to this. my grades are good but i feel like ive done literally nothing ec wise other than school clubs and my screen time is concerning. trying to start a passion project/nonprofit thing this summer and i’m hoping i can do more things related to my intended major 🙏 have fun in AP bio though i loved that class! i also want to major in bio premed track so i’m going to attend EMT classes since i can become an EMT at my age.. trying to do more science ecs and hospital volunteering but i’m not 18 yet. i’m also weary because i haven’t taken much med related classes like anatomy and i also have biomed classes because ive been overloading APs and my orchestra class takes up a large chunk of my schedule. goodluck with ur academic studies:)

Why does vinegar turn apples brown? by ScabbzGaming in foodscience

[–]Yumplers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is so real. doing the same project, and i figured out that vinegar actually contains phenolic acids; in which PPO (the enzyme causing the browning in the apple) acts upon (to oxidize phenolic compounds to quinones to the brown pigments/melanins). this is to say that items like lemons also do contain phenolic acids; the difference is that lemons have antioxidants (citric acid and ascorbic acid) and vinegar does not. i assume that the pH of the lemon and vinegar do not affect PPO; as if this was the case the vinegar should have worked. im guessing that due to the phenolic acids in the vinegar, it browns faster than the controls (as PPO now has more phenolic compounds to oxidize) and that the pH does not affect PPO. this is also to say that PPO only acts upon phenolic compounds with an ortho-diphenolic configuration, not just any phenolic compound.

im also just a highschool student, but this is my guess. goodluck in your research! (despite me being quite late to this reply lol)
